Holly was in the grand ballroom watching as Artemis sat before the grand piano in the ballroom. Dust caught in the light of the dying sun glittered like magic and made the large room seem a little more welcoming to the small elf. The grand ballroom in Fowl Manor hadn't been used since last Christmas and it was now late October. Artemis Fowl II had been coming here often for the last few days and when asked about his odd behaviour he would respond with a few murmured words and a distant look in his eyes. Butler being ever the observant type had noted it and after several attempts to find out what he was doing in there called Holly. After all if something was wrong with Artemis, Holly would kill Butler if she didn't find out, she had almost become an outlaw just to resurrect the teen. The delicate sound of a piano note flying through the air cut Holly's train of thought off. She was here to find out what was going on, not to think, she could do that in Haven.

Holly stifled a gasp as she herd Artemis start singing. It was beautiful, almost like an angel. I had no idea that he could sing so well.

Holly started to feel a little guilty, clearly this was a song Artemis had written for someone. The kind of song that only a select few should ever hear. The kind of song that is sung with not only your voice but with your heart and soul as well.

Holly was almost tempted to leave the room. This song was obviously a song for someone Artemis really cared about. Clearly the dazed look in Artemis' eyes that Butler had reported was the look of a love struck mud whelp.

By now Holly was about to fly away when a memory came rushing back. Shortly after Artemis had regained his memories Holly had gotten a topside visa and had surprised Artemis by leaving a email for him to come outside in the garden. There she had a cup of coffee in her hands and offered it to him. This song couldn't be for her, could it?

Tears streamed down Holly's face as she listened to the sorrow in Artemis' voice when he said the last line.
"Holly I know your in here. Please unsheild so I may look you in the eye." Artemis said sounding rather pleading.
that is unusual. Holly quickly composed herself and walked over to Artemis. All of the song made sense now. The beginning was about when Holly had caught a cold while Artemis was visiting and he had helped her recover, and the second part was about when they where in Limbo and very briefly Holly had died. After that must have been about when Artemis had first met her and invited/dragged-against-her-own-will inside. Holly felt uncertain, she did like Artemis but they could never be together like that, could they? For starters Artemis was a human and Holly was an elf, The People generally frowned a pawn interstices romances, and what would Mrs Fowl think?
"Holly Coral Short, will you marry me?" Artemis asked once she stood before the young adult
"Holly."
"Holly."
"Holly!"
Holly woke up. She sighed in relief, it was just a dream. But still a small part of the elf couldn't help but to feel a little bit disappointed.
