A/N: Second ficlet. I swear, we wrote these three in like, two hours. Another first person, from Burt's point of view in the last chapter (.net/s/7351890/12/Daddy_Lessons) on Tuesday Morning, just before Kurt leaves for school and Blaine goes with Wes. There's one line where Burt closes the door to Kurt's room, and this was the thought process behind it :D
Carole cooked well, especially this early in the morning.
"Did you notice the boys closed the door last night?" she said softly, putting some more bacon on my plate.
"No...That was me. I didn't want to be woken up by the baby."
Carole paused, a small grin plastered on her face.
"Honey, they gave Toronto back yesterday."
I froze. I'd shut the door. There was no baby to keep them occupied.
Oh god.
I got up and headed to the stairs, ignoring Carole's hushed protests. "They went to bed with the door open – nothing would've happened! I checked on them before and after dinner – they were in the same spot."
"I'm just making sure." I assured her, heading to their room.
Cracking the door open, I peered in. Kurt was curled into a ball – the way he always slept when he was upset – his arms clutching the teddy bear protectively – the way he would've done if Toronto was there. Blaine was sprawled out over most of the bed, one arm resting over the bear, his hand holding Kurt's.
"See." Carole whispered, poking me.
I had to admit – they had followed the rules. It was my fault that they'd slept with the door shut.
There was a pillow on the ground, a blanket seemingly flung near it.
"Carole." I hissed. "If they weren't doing anything, why are the covers everywhere?"
"You should know better than I do that Kurt sleeps restlessly when he's upset. You're just looking for an excuse. Calm down and come and finish your breakfast."
I scanned the room once more. Maybe she was right. I was over-reacting. A little.
With one more glance around the room, I opened the door fully and followed her down.
I should've known Kurt would have kept his promise and followed the rules.
A/N: It's short and it's just fluff because we need to write something and we can't write this new thing because we promised we wouldn't before I came back.
