I have been away from writing for sometime now, here is my feeble attempt to return :D

--

The suns rays reached through the trees towards him on the ground. He loved the sun. Every day the sun had been a constant companion. She was always there, warming his cold demeanour, highlighting his talents, and giving him hope before shying away at night with the promise of returning in the morning. Today was different. Soon the sun would be gone; he would no longer enjoy the warmth of the suns rays caressing his face.

'This was not supposed to happen.'

Neji pushed himself harder, performing each move faster then before. This was how he released his frustrations.

'What was I thinking?'

He switched stances and began another series of jitsus. The late afternoon sun was starting to shy away behind the tall trees that surround the training grounds. The warm summer breeze caressed the tree leaves bringing familiar smells from the village.

Unable to fully concentrate, Neji stopped. Despite his efforts, he could not let go of all the feelings raging inside of him.

"Shit."

Neji allowed himself drop to the ground.

"Shit."

The strongest of the Hyuuga was brought to his knees by his own emotions. Neji let out a yell. A feeble attempt to release tension. It was all he had left.

Neji let his head hang in defeat. For the past few hours, unknown to but a few, Hinata had been in the presence of her father accepting her fate to an arranged marriage. Helpless for the first time in his life, Neji ran. Ran through the Hyuuga compound, through the village, past comrades, past familiar places, through the trees, to the place he was now.

Darkness started to set in and the sun disappeared behind the horizon.

Neji balled his fists and punched the dirt beside him. "I could not protect her. I could not protect my sun."

The cool moon shone down on him.

"You are wrong Neji niisan." Hinata's soft voice drifted into his ears. Neji stood and faced the sound of her voice. Hinata was just at the edge of the training grounds looking at him and smiling. He had no idea how long she had been standing there watching him. She walked up to him and stood by his side.

"If you did not protect the sun, the moon wouldn't shine so brightly." Hinata gently took his hand. The sun was completely gone now, replaced by the radiant moon.

"Forgive me Neji niisan." Hinata looked up to Neji. "I was selfish. I cannot live with out my moon and have asked my father not to separate us."

"Hinata sama, there is nothing to forgive, for the moon cannot live without his sun."

Neji held Hinata's hand tighter, content that the sun would return in the morning.
