I had always been surrounded by people, but I felt completely and utterly alone. Until I saw him. He wore brown suspenders and a red bowtie. He was like nothing I had ever seen in all my life.

I looked about the room, until one man caught my eye.I slowly, casually made my way over to him. He was standing to the back of the room with a small glass of champagne. He was talking to the host and his wife, the smile on his face pulled me in even more. He looked my way and winked. He excused himself and walked towards me.

"And who might you be?" he asked smiling at me.

"I'm a- I'm Maggie...uh hi I guess." I said startled.

"You look like someone who likes a good story." he said, excitement in his voice, "Do you want to hear mine?"

- - Later - -

"You can't just go to the 1930's in a police box. That-that's impossible." I said shaking my head as we walked to my apartment.

"Ah!" he said, "For you maybe, but not for me."

With a sigh I sped up a bit. He kept pace and made it look like it was nothing.

Nudging him I said, "If you are really 1200 something years old then answer me thi-"

"Yes." he said.

"I didn't even get to finish my question." I remarked pouting.

He just smiled and winked. I couldn't help it, I smiled back.

"Is this it?" he asked pointing to the building in front next to us.

"What?" I said blinking, "Uh. Yeah, it is."

We walked into the building and went over to the elevator. Once inside I pushed the button for the 3rd floor. He kept staring at the cherub statue that was by the button panel. The elevator doors opened and we walked out.

"Thanks for walking me here and the story." I said smiling.

"No problem." he replied a faint blush on his cheeks.

I walked to my apartment door and pulled out my key. 11d, home sweet home. I paused before going in.

"Would you like to come in?" I asked a tired smile on my face.

"Okay!" he replied happily, "You know, for a second there you reminded me of someone I used to know."

"Oh really? Cool." I said looking at him as I pushed open the apartment door, "Welcome to my home."
