A/N: This is just a late Christmas fic I thought up from getting peppermint Chapstick in my stocking.
Disclaimer:I don't own Austin and Ally.
He was frustrated. Nervous and frustrated. Four times he had tried. Four! And yet still, he hadn't kissed Ally He-doesn't-know-her-middle-name Dawson.
The first time was when they were under the mistletoe. They were so close-centimeters apart!-when Trish and Dez interrupted them. Dang it.
The second time, they were under the mistletoe, but it wasn't planned. She was about to kiss him when she suddenly kissed his cheek instead. She laughed and went behind the Sonic Boom counter. So close...
The third time was much like the first, except it included a flying squirrel, a spoon, and a cantaloupe. So, Dez.
The fourth...that was the closest. The one that made him the most frustrated. They were less than a centimeter apart, when he heard a huge crash on one side of him. He turned to look, and Ally ended up kissing his cheek again. He could've sworn their lips brushed, but it wasn't the real thing.
He decided to give it another shot.
"What's in your stocking, Ally?" Austin asked her from where he was sitting by the door to the practice room, where the plan was about to be in motion.
"Um...some turnips, cat food, a spoon, a coupon for a free pet bath, and...peppermint Chapstick(1)." Huh. She should have known that she would get strange things when Dez was chosen to organize Christmas stockings. "At least I got Chapstick..." the brunette said, laughing.
"Yup," Austin said coolly, though he was extremely nervous.
Ally unwrapped the Chapstick and put it on. "Hey Ally, can you come here; I want to try it!" Austin called from the doorway.
"Austin, can't you come over here and get it?" Ally complained.
"But Aaaaaaally, I'm sitting and you're standing. It makes much more sense if you come to me," Austin reasoned.
"Ugh, fine," she obliged, faking exasperation, and made her way over.
Meanwhile, the pair's best friends watched, giggling.
Ally gave Austin the Chapstick and was about to move away when Trish said, "Ally, look up."
She did so, and turned pink when she saw the mistletoe hung above Austin. She slowly turned back to Austin, eyes wide. "Well...rules are rules." Did she-did she want this, too?
He nodded, and they both started to lean in. When their lips met, they felt sparks, saw fireworks, all that cliché stuff you hear in books. When they pulled away, Austin said, "Ally, will you be my girlfriend?"
"Oh, I don't know...maybe..." she said, pretending to think. Seeing Austin's disappointed face, she squealed, "Of course!" and threw her arms around his neck.
Suddenly, they heard a sob. They both looked to see Trish blowing her nose. "I'm sorry! It's just...so beautiful!"
Maybe five is the charm.
Austin smiled at his girlfriend of one year as she opened her stocking. She turned to look at him with a grin. "Peppermint Chapstick...I never could've guessed who did the stockings this year," she said.
"Uh...it was Austin, duh. And you guys call me the stupid one," Dez said. Trish smacked him upside the head.
"We need to get them together," Austin murmured.
"Done," Ally whispered back. "Hey, Trish, look up."
