The smell of grapefruit perfume flew by so fast he would have missed it, if he hadn't been alerted by the stomping kitten heels.
"Annie?" He asked just to be sure, turning to the general direction she had stormed off to.
"Hey Auggie." She called in a deadpan tone. He got up out of his seat, pulling his laser cane out of his pocket, and followed her to her seat.
"You want to talk about it?" He asked casually leaning against the corner of her desk. She sighed in response. "C'mon Annie, it's obviously bothering you." He urged.
"I took my nieces to the park this weekend. Chloe wanted to go on the monkey bars and I let her. I turn around for a second because Katia wanted me to watch her and next thing you know, Chloe is on the ground with a broken arm. Now, I feel so bad and my sister is mad at me and will probably never let me watch them again." She let out a frustrated 'agh.' "All this CIA training and I couldn't even prevent a seven year old girl from breaking her arm." She finished her rant with a cynical chuckle.
"Annie."
"Yea?"
"It's not your fault." He stated in an even voice.
"Really Auggie?" She snapped. "That's the best you could come up with? I would've thought that-"
"What could you have done? You're not James Bond, Anne Walker. I doubt you could've dove and caught her before she hit the ground. Kids will be kids. I'm sure that thousands of kids break their arms on monkey bars everywhere. I did. Look how I turned out…Well, except the blindness, which had nothing to do with me breaking my arm anyway. I'm even surer that your sister will forgive you. Siblings have a knack for forgiving you." He finished with an assuring smile. Annie stood up and wrapped her arms around him.
"Thanks Auggie. You always know what to say." She buried her head in his shoulder. "You're the best friend anyone could have." She mumbled before letting go.
"Annie Walker?" A man asked gently tapping her on the shoulder.
"Yes?" She spun around.
"Joan wants you for the briefing."
"Okay, thank you." Annie said dismissing him. "Bye Auggie I'll catch up with you later." She said before running off to Joan's office, the kitten heels making a much lighter sound against the linoleum.
A/N: Threw this one together really quickly. Inspiration kind of struck like lightening I guess. So after looking up the names on IMDB I found out what Danielle's kids' names were. Did you know that the girls that play them are actually sisters in real life? Also, according to this baby names site, Katia is pronounced KAH-tyah, but if anyone has another pronounciation let me know. Oh and I guessed on the age. I'm assuming Katia is the older one. Thanks for reading guys, the feedback I got on my other CA fic blew me away! Thank you so much. Is it Tuesday yet? :)
