Disclaimer: I DON'T OWN HARRY POTTER!
The day was bright and chill, the snow perfect for packing, as the three friends trudged down to Hagrid's cottage for 'Care of Magical Creatures' class with Slytherin House. Harry felt the pit of his stomach drop when he heard a booming voice say, "C'mon 'Arry 'Ermoine, Ron! Eh got ah s'prise fer yeh."
Ron and Hermione mirrored Harry's expression of dread, a surprise could mean only one thing, a new creature, probably a dangerous one as well.
Slowly the three altered their direction slightly and headed off toward the voice as they firmly instated a fake smile that hopefully Hagrid would not see though.
"Now she's a feisty little thing, best not t' anger her," he warned them as he led them off toward the edge of the Forbidden Forest.
When the arrived Hermione gasped in surprise while Harry and Ron tilted their heads slightly and looked down at the small blue girl on the ground.
Hermione turned to Hagrid, "Where did you find her?" she asked shocked.
Hagrid straightened up proudly, "I rescued her!"
The small blue girl grew angry at this statement, "Rescued me? RESCUED ME?" she yelled, her face turning even bluer then it had been originally. "You mean trapped me!"
Ron turned to Hagrid, "Trapped her? Hagrid, what does she mean?" he asked curiously and once more looked the blue girl over.
She was tiny, not much taller then a standard-sized water bottle. Her hair was long and fell to her waist. It was mostly white except for the strands that framed her face which were of a dark blue. Her eyes were large and took a similar shade as the hair that framed her face. Her skin was toned blue, slowly becoming paler as it moved down her face, then remained a steady shade of light blue for the rest of her body. Her thin lips retained a color similar to the shade lips take after being in the pool too long. Her dress style reflected what common folklore spoke of, a light and fluttery blue material. It shimmered in a way that reminded Ron of the way freshly fallen snow shimmers in the sunlight.
"Trapped yes, trapped! In one of those horrible metal, jaw-clamp, trap monstrosities!" Blue screamed back.
"It was muggle work! I don't even know 'ow it got there!" Hagrid defended himself, clearly becoming flustered.
"Hermione, what is she?" Harry asked.
"A Snow Nymph! Rather rareā¦," Hermione trailed off still rather shocked.
"That's right! I see you're smarter then you look girl! Leave me alone now or I will hurt you all!" The Nymph waved her fingers 'mystically' to further her point.
Ron and Harry backed up a step as did Hagrid but he stepped back for another reason: it seemed that a fight had broken out between a few Slytherin and a couple of Gryffindor. Hermione, however, remained rooted to the spot.
"Don't worry guys, she can't hurt us without wand, and I don't see it anywhere, I reckon she lost it when she got stuck in the trap."
This seemed to infuriate the small girl who once more turned a dark shade of blue and screamed out, "Can't do anything 'ey? We'll see about that!"
Just then a large snowball hit Hermione in the back of the head.
"OW!" she yelled and turned around, "Who threw that?"
The Nymph smirked as Hermione stomped off toward the Slytherins and Gryffindors who were now chucking snowballs at each other and joined in the fray.
Harry and Ron watched her go, when they turned back to the Nymph they found the place which she had been sitting to be empty. They both looked around puzzled but could find no trace of the blue girl. They were about to expand their search when two more snowballs came flying and hit them both.
Ron and Harry once more looked at each other puzzled but nonetheless they each picked up a bit of snow, packed it into a ball, and ran over to join the battle.
From the Forbidden Forest Blue watched the battle. "Good luck Harry Potter. Enjoy the snow while you can."
The End
