Disclaimer: This didn't have a spesicif fandom, but for the sake of making things easy, I'll just say that I don't own any of them.
AN: I wrote this as a means to putting myself to sleep. Obviously, it didn't work, but at the same time i remembered that my boyfriend had asked me to write a fic for him, so I decided what the hell, I'll polish it up a bit and post it for him. Here you go, sweetie, love you.
The night was cold, crisp and clear. It was the type of night that stood out in a person's mind. The kind of night that beaconed lonely souls into it. Darkness covered the earth like a frozen blanket. Nothing but the moon shone, for the stars were dim, outshined by the brilliance of the silver sphere hanging in the sky.
Her tears fell, not quite hidden by the faint and fading light that the moon provided. Had her tears fallen any sooner, silver tracks would shine as evidence to her broken heart. As it were, her tears remained silent, and private. Something that only she and the night would share. A secret that would be kept into eternity.
It was at this point that words failed to matter. Everything that she had needed to feel had already been expressed. Her sorrow, her memories. All that had remained were her tears – which were saved until the end where they would be introduced with dramatic flair.
-
He pretended not to notice the streaks of pain falling down her cheeks and to the ground below them. He pretended that there was nothing to say, nothing to feel, and certainly nothing to cry about. That was what he did, after all. He hid what he felt with false emotions. Twisting the world around him into something that he could control.
But truth be told, he had – in his own way – expressed everything already. Anger and helplessness. Rage and abandonment. Tears were a secret that not even the night shared with him, and all of his pain was hidden behind a mask of indifference.
-
"I loved you." She whispered, her words being stolen from her lips from a harsh wind that had decided to dry her tears. More anguished emotion fell to the ground, denying the wind its desire.
-
"I'll miss you." He muttered, kicking at a patch of dirt that drifted in that same ruthless wind. Violence was his only way to show he cared. His words, almost a reply to hers, fell upon deaf ears.
-
Neither received an answer. The one she loved; the one he'd miss – couldn't hear them.
Together they turned and left, leaving behind a patch of upturned earth and a headstone – beautiful in its simplicity. The headstone, reading simply a name and the words:
"Willing to live for his enemies,
and to die for his friends."
