Slipping Away

I stare at the night sky, wondering what went wrong. Was there something I could have done, to prevent this from happening. But it's too late.

I blame myself for everything. I hear your voice, calling my name. It's almost like I'm in a bad dream.

I turn to you, and see tears run down your sad face.

"It's okay, everything will be okay." I tell you, as the clouds above us, get darker.

The look on your face tells me, just how scared you truly are. I'm sorry, please forgive me.

"Please, don't leave me alone!" Her voice is trembling.

My heart breaks, knowing I will leave you alone, in a place where no friendly face can help you out.

I search for the best words, something to help you be strong, even though I know there are no such words. Not now, not here.

"You have to go on, without me." I take a deep breath, I'm not going to last long. "Don't worry, I'll always be with you, Ashley."

You tell me, you won't, you can't leave me behind. That you care about me.

Behind us, I can hear them approaching, coming to get her, and end my life. I urge you once more, to leave while you still can.

"Leon, I can't!" She hugs me, "I'm not leaving you!"

Wrapping my arms around her, I give up just as several villagers find us.

As they get closer, I hear you whisper in my ear, "Don't worry. I'll protect you."

You don't wait for my responds, as you take my hand gun, and fire on our attackers.

I'm unable to help, as you take on fifteen villagers, with only a hand gun, and a strong spirit.

Just as you kill the last of them, you turn to me, but you know something isn't right.

I stare off into the sky, as you hold me, knowing I will never talk to you again, knowing you will never say good-bye to me.

I'm sorry Ashley, I wasn't able to protect you, and that I left you here, all alone. Please forgive me.

Please leave a review and tell me what you thought about this. This is Leon talking about Ashley in Resident Evil 4. Thank you from Sara A. Wesker.
