Massie Block pressed her face against the cold window. She turned around and plucked a book off of her bookshelf. She opened the book and dust fell of the book's rugged cover. Shutting the book she looked at the cover. The Files Of Madison Finn #1 Only The Lonely. Madison's parents were divorced. And now Massie's were too. Massie stared at the suitcases on her bed. She was leaving. And Bean wasn't coming with her. She felt the tears well up in her eyes. "Massie!" Kendra screamed. She grabbed her bags and kissed her puppy.
The cab was dingy and smelly. But Massie had to like it. As well as her new school and her new APARTMENT. She was even poorer that Kristen. Kendra told the cabby to head to Wal-Mart. At those words Massie sobbed. Massie put her head into her mother's arms. The cab stopped and they got out. Massie lugged out her one case which was the size of a big purse.
The light in Wal-Mart was so bright, when Massie blinked there were blue splotches in her eyes when she opened them. Her mother grabbed a cart and Massie stared at her hands. She wasn't wearing any jewelry except for the Tiffany bracelet her father had given her. She angrily took it off and threw it in the trash can.
William Block scrubbed his hands under the faucet and watched the tears flow form Massie's eyes. He had put a special camera on her and Kendra and was watching the footage on his TV. "What did I do wrong?" he asked himself. He stared at Massie as she said 3 words William never knew he would say. " I hate Daddy."
Massie walked over to the apartment building which was her new home. She opened the door and sat on her bed. Her mother was going to sleep on the couch because there was only one very small bed in a very small room. Massie thought about her previous life and cried herself to sleep.
William searched through Massie's room and found what he was looking for. Her drawing notebook from when she was 9. He flipped through the pages until he found what he was looking for. There in front of his eyes was a picture of the family saying Me+ Mommy+ Daddy 1 big happy family. He photocopied it and ran outside into his car with an envelope and a pen. Jumping inside of his car he scribbled on the front of the envelope TO:MASSIE in his messy handwriting. Folding up the picture, he sealed the envelope and headed to Massie's new apartment.
Kendra opened the door the next morning to find an envelope with Massie's name on it. She sat it on Massie's dresser. Massie woke up 1 hour later. She opened the envelope and looked at the picture. She sobbed and fell asleep again.
