"Tomorrow I will officially be a Pokémon trainer." I muttered to myself in excitement. I am eighteen, eight years older than most people when they start their journey, but I was needed at home until now.
I glace over on the wall where a poster showing all of the currently known Pokémon is tacked in place. I wonder what Pokémon I will get, I have quite a few favorites, everyone does, but every year there are different ones to choose from. I decide to push the subject from my mind as I lay down hoping I can get some sleep.
"Annabelle, wake up." My mother calls from downstairs. I look at the clock, 'gosh it's still early' I think to myself. I look outside, it's still dark.
"Are you excited, Anna?" my mother says, walking into the room. I nod grabbing my bag that I packed last night.
"And a little nervous." I add a weak smile.
"Don't worry you have nothing to worry about. Come, I have made some breakfast for you." We head downstairs and eat a breakfast of pancakes and hash browns. After breakfast I help my mother with the dishes, and then glance at the clock, it's almost time to head to the lab.
"I better get going if I am going to get there on time." I smile and hug my mom good bye and promise to call her that night.
I start walking down the road, the sun was rising painting the sky soft colors. We lived about a mile outside of town, we have a ranch raising miltank and teaching people how to ride ponyta. We have a rapidash but it's not trusting of other people outside of my family.
My mother said I could take the rapidash or her delicaty to start my adventure but I decided I want my own Pokémon, my younger sister and rapidash get along the best and she wants to become a coordinator with rapidash as her main Pokémon.
My sister takes after our mother, mom and her delicaty won quite a few times. I often catch my sister ogling over mom's trophies.
I don't really know what I want to be, battling seems like fun but so does becoming a coordinator and a ranger. But I have decided I will figure it out in the future. All I know is that I want to explore and see as many Pokémon as I can.
I can soon see the town and the Pokémon lab. There is a small crowd outside waiting to get there Pokémon or see what Pokémon their friends and family get. I don't really know anyone around here my family used to live in the kanto region.
I stand in the back of the crowd and soon the young professor comes out with two of her lab assistants. They start handing out Pokémon to each person. I start to make my way towards the front so I can get a choice before they are all gone, but by the time I make it up there they only have one left. Everyone else is leaving with their new Pokémon.
"And here's yours miss." The assistant says handing me a pokeball. "Take good care of him." I smile and thank him before walking away staring at the pokéball. I wait until I am a bit away from everyone else, thoughts of what it might be swarming in my head. Finally I throw the ball up into the air releasing the Pokémon.
