Disclaimer: I claim that I do not own The Legend of Zelda or anything else made by Nintendo. I do not own Vaati, and would have released him even if I did. I do not wish to ever own him. If he were not a fictional character, I would rather prefer to be his best friend. Perhaps even drinking buddy, or study partner.
I was currently headed towards the castle town of Hyrule, on my way to enter this year's sword festival. The competition specified that 'The winner earns a chance to touch the Picori's Blade'. With that, I could obtain the Light Force I had been seeking, and gain ultimate power.
I walked through the woods on my way to Castle Town, as it had been named. The idiot Hylians... they could not even come up with a creative name for the town! I mulled that thought over as I continued through the forest.
Until I halted, all of a sudden. Confused by why I couldn't move, I checked my surroundings to see a small bush in front of me, a simple plant being the cause of my abrupt stop. I grunted to myself and continued on, only making a few paces before I hesitated to move forward.
...Not a single explanation reached my mind as to why I could not move. Was there something I had not noticed about this piece of shrubbery? I looked back at it to see nothing out of the ordinary, walking over to it and crouching down to inspect it further.
"It is our tradition," That fool Ezlo's voice echoed in my head, forcing me to look around in confusion, and surprise only to find nothing. "That we hide such things in the bushes, and under the rocks."
"Our tradition?" My young voice asked, holding a conversation with the voices of my head.
"Yes. It gives us joy, you see. The Hylians are always happy when they find the things they need hidden in the bushes. The look of immense joy on their faces gives us great happiness."
"So we hide money and stuff in bushes and rocks, and they find them when they need them?"
"Yes, that is it."
"And then they're really happy, and we're happy too?"
"Exactly."
"No...!" I cried out under my breath, trying to dismiss the voices in my head. "I am beyond that!"
"It gives us great joy..."
"No!"
"To see others happy..."
"Shut up, you old geezer...!" I muttered, clutching my fist before angrily walking away.
And stopping after a few steps.
"It is our tradition..." I shut my eyes and focused upon hearing the old fool again, doing what I could to resist his words.
"Oh, fine!" I said to myself, walking back to the bush and crouching down. "If it shuts you up...!" I grunted, nervously looking side to side before retrieving a blue rupee out of my cloak, tucking it behind a few of the bush's leaves. I then quickly stood up and picked up my pace, getting away from the scene.
Though, as I walked, I covered my face to hide the small smile playing on my lips.
