Now if you are wondering 'what Is a Mary-sue?' A Mary-sue is a character who has no flaws, they are perfect in every aspect and may have special attributes that do not exist in the cannon form of the fiction. Sometimes they are the author's ideal version of themselves paired with their favorite person.
Let's start with the name. The name is important.
How about hikari mitzubusi?
No, unless your character is from Japan or another foreign county, try to keep the character's name fairly regional. The exception of course is Greek names.
How about Aanastassia galya saphyra Jackson?
Again no. Unless she is Percy's sister, no to the last name. Also try a shorter modern name. The name doesn't have to be long and mysterious. A common name like Sarah will do.
How about rebekkah Patterson?
Better but still not quite there. Rebekkah doesn't need to be spelt all fancy, the normal version will do just as good. Also try to avoid celebrity last names.
Alanna smith?
Perfect, Alanna is the Greek name for light and is still a common, but unique name.
See how the name compares in this identical scene
"Hi, I'm Annabeth. I'm a camper here too." Annabeth greeted the new girl.
"Hey, I'm Aanastassia galya saphyra Jackson." She replied.
Compare that to….
"Hi, I'm Annabeth. I'm a camper here too." Annabeth greeted the new girl.
"Hey, I'm Alanna smith." She replied.
Moving on, every demi-god needs a godly offspring, or they can go through the story unclaimed. Popular parents are Zeus, Hades, Poseidon, Aphrodite, Apollo, Hera or Artemis.
Try being creative, the big 3 have been over used a lot. Aphrodite and Apollo children are a bit more acceptable, but you can try using a different parent. Hera and Artemis however are a big NO. Hera is the goddess of marriage and although Zeus has affairs she is extremely faithful to her husband. Artemis made a vow to be a maiden forever, which means she will forever be a virgin. Therefore Artemis will never bear children, and as cool as Artemis is no demigod will be born to her. Remember there's still Athena, Demeter, Dionysius, Ares, Hepathaestus and Hermes.
See how the parental claiming compares in these scenes
Aanastassia galya saphyra Jackson stood panting after defeating everyone from the Ares cabin blindfolded. As the fallen kids picked themselves off the ground a gasp of shock echoed through the forest. "You've been Claimed. Congratulations, Aanastassia galya saphyra Jackson. Daughter of Poseidon." Chiron's voice boomed through the clearing. Aanastassia looked up to see a green trident above her head.

Alanna smith nervously backed away from the Ares kids. As they continually came forward Alanna started to panic. She backed into a tree, and knew she was done for when all of a sudden they became distracted by something over her head. Looking up Alanna saw a gold poppy resting between two stalks of wheat. She'd been claimed, by Demeter.
A/N that's all for today, tune in next time when I explain mortal parents, pasts, skills and appearance.
