"It just isn't fair!" I yelled, throwing things around in my room. My tail lashed and ripped down the curtains covering my window.
"Settle down now, Chere." Remy said, hands out and tone gentle. "Tell me what happened."
I shook my head and gestured to my phone, smashed to bits when I had thrown it across the room. "That… That… That idiot broke up with me!" I said, holding the tears in check. "I was there for him through everything! Who was there when his parents kicked him out? Me! Who offered him a place ta stay? Me!"
Remy nodded and sat down on my bed, stepping carefully over the ripped-up drawings I had made of…
"I'm sure he didn't mean it, Chere. He come around. Gambit know it." Remy said, looking at me.
I shook my head again and looked into his red-on-black eyes. "No, he won't, Rems. He broke up with me for some… cheerleader! Can ya believe it? It's… It's just such a cliché!"
"I know." Remy said soothingly, patting the sot on the bed next to him. I sat beside him. "Luna, sometimes boys are…. Well, after someting dat other girls ain't ready ta give 'em. Understand?"
I nodded. "Yeah, I gotcha, Rem."
He nodded. "Good. Now, y'all know dat ya find someone else, right?"
I shrugged. "I guess…" I muttered, dropping my gaze.
"Ya will. Gambit promise." Remy said, drawing me into a hug.
I hugged him back. "I… It's just so…. Stupid, Remy. Why would he do that ta me?"
"I dunno, Chere." He said quietly with a shrug. "I couldn't say."
"Thanks fer listenin' Remy." I said. "I really appreciate it."
"Anytime, Chere. Anytime." Remy said, standing up. He surveyed the room. "Ya might wanna get dis cleaned up afore Logan catches sight of it." He said with a smirk, leaving the room silently.
I nodded with a sigh. "Guess so." I muttered. I picked up the curtains and got started….
