A. A. Milne would have made a good hobbit. Can't you just see him writing the tales of Winnie the Pooh for hobbit children? Written for my friend Juliawise, for her birthday.
Daydreaming
Tiamat's Child
It was a very good day in the Hundred Acre Wood. Tigger had taken Roo to visit Christopher Robin in his house in the tallest hill in the Wood, and found that Pooh was there too. This made Tigger so very happy that he simply had to bounce in place on the doormat.
"Hullo, Merry!" Christopher Robin said. "And hello, Pippin, how are you today?"
"I'm not Merry," Tigger told him, "I'm Tigger! And this is Roo." Tigger jiggled Roo on his hip to make him giggle. Roo was always so sweet when he giggled.
"Ah," Christopher Robin said, "I see. Do you and Roo want to help me and…"
"Pooh," Tigger supplied. "And you're Christopher Robin."
"…Pooh make cookies?" Christopher Robin continued.
"Well, Roo?" Tigger asked. "Do we?"
Roo beamed. Tigger looked back up at Christopher Robin. "If we can have some cookie dough!"
Christopher Robin smiled. "Of course you may have cookie dough."
"Yea!" Tigger darted into the kitchen, Roo clinging to him, his hands tight in the older boy's shirt, laughing brightly.
Pooh shook his head. "I'll never understand those cousins of yours, Mr. Frodo." He blushed instantly. "Meanin' no offense sir!"
"None taken." Christopher Robin said with a gentle smile. He ruffled Pooh's curls in a carelessly fond gesture. "Silly old bear."
