She Danced the Green Grass Warm

-

I took her in my arms that night, with reckless laughter ringing

She pushed me down and ran ahead; her lungs were filled with singing

-

The air was sweet and then we beat a path beneath the moon

It couldn't last so we ran fast before she woke too soon

-

In the forest we dared and tread, and whispered tones quite low

Under the mist we prod and peeked to find where the fairies go

-

And there at last we found amass, a field of flickering light

Tiny glows that slowly rose, beyond her stretched delight

-

Ah, there my Sarah

For you my Sarah

All my Fortune Spend

-

Ah, there my Sarah

For you my Sarah

I make the stars descend

-

She danced the green grass warm that night, her eyes were shining bright

I left my robe, I took her hand, and we kissed under pale moonlight

-

And from the sky I allowed to fly, little flakes of snowy white

A wondrous spell, I could tell, when her arms then held me tight

-

She laid her head upon my chest; I threaded fingers in her hair

Dawn was approaching much too soon, life was too unfair!

-

Fair cheeks blushed and then I rushed to tell what would seem

The easiest thing for a Goblin King to promise in her dream

-

Ah, there my Sarah

For you my Sarah

I fear my heart will rend

-

Ah, there my Sarah

For you my Sarah

Time will I suspend

-

All clocks stopped and dawn arrested, her fair face then did smile

I bowed before her reverently, Queen Sarah forever and a while

-

Gems unknown, and precious stone, a fancy crown I made

Upon the grass, at last, at last, my queen and I then laid

-

I whispered riddles made from love and we laughed quite ridiculously

We stared and kissed and watched with awe, snow drift down lazily

-

And in the hush, we did not rush; her hand even now still rests in mine

It's only forever, my lovely endeavor, until the end of time

-

Ah, there my Sarah

For you my Sarah

Your title I amend

-

Ah, there my Sarah

For you my Sarah

My love, my queen… and friend
