Here's a new one-shot about Rick Murray that I wrote while listening to "Man In the Long Black Coat" by Joan Osborne. It's really good (I hope)! And I also was inspired by the poems The Spider and the Fly and Trust Me, Spoke the Spider to the Fly. Dedicated to my friend Liz (aka LiZ-RoX). R&R, please!
Disclaimer: The geniuses at The N own Degrassi: the Next Generation. I just own the stories. But if I owned Rick Murray, he would've been a better boyfriend for Terri, and someone else would've been picked on instead of him.
Rick Murray in the Long Black Coat
by
Nightcrawlerlover
Like James Dean he is as he stands against his locker. His brown eyes glitter with malice behind his glasses.
The long black trenchcoat swirls like a whirlpool around his legs.
He focuses on one thing.
Who would be his next victim...
He is the predator.
They are the prey.
Spinner and Jay had learned that the hard way when Rick had cornered them and murdered them in cold blood like the vampire he reminded them of.
Now, as they are out of the way, he focuses on the thing he had become.
A creature like death, wearing a long black trenchcoat.
His next prey, like always, is a girl.
He watches her for a bit to see what she's like.
The girl could be naïve, innocent, and caring. Then he smiles and weaves his web like the spider he is by fashioning a red rose and putting a love spell on it.
"I call to thee,
I call to thee,
As I desire it,
So shall it be."
Then he puts it in her locker. Then, using his powers, he hides himself, while being able to keep a close watch on her.
He licks his lips as she reaches into her locker and pulls out the rose.
His evil smirk widens as she brings it to her nose and smells it.
Immediately it happens. She feels light-headed.
As the love spell takes effect, Rick blows a kiss towards his intended target.
My darling innocent prey...come to me, he thinks.
His eyes now blaze with the growing flames of lust. She now falls backwards to the floor, his kiss clouding her brain like those drugs she has heard about but never taken.
In a rush he uses his preternatural speed to catch her, and she falls into his arms.
Rick smiles an evil smile.
He has another innocent, helpless fly trapped in the web of a spider - him...
He was the spider - beautiful but deadly.
She was the fly - innocent but naïve and trusting.
Somebody seen him hanging around
At the old dance hall on the outskirts of town,
He looked into her eyes when she stopped him to ask
If he wanted to dance, he had a face like a mask.
Somebody said from the Bible he'd quote
There was dust on the man
In the long black coat.
Preacher was talkin' there's a sermon he gave,
He said every man's conscience is vile and depraved,
You cannot depend on it to be your guide
When it's you who must keep it satisfied
It ain't easy to swallow, it sticks in the throat,
She gave her heart to the man
In the long black coat
--Joan Osborne, Man in the Long Black Coat
Ignore these silken threads,
Which bind you to me.
My one and only desire,
Is to see you are set free.
