Gotta Go My Own Way
Mitchie was on tour with Connect 3 for the summer. She loved spending every day with Shane but now that summer was coming to an end she didn't know what to do. Mitchie had always wanted to go to college but she didn't want to leave Shane behind.
I gotta say what's on my mind
Something about us
doesn't seem right these days
life keeps getting in the way
Whenever we try, somehow the plan
is always rearranged
"Hey Shane can we talk?" Mitchie asked after one of the Connect 3 concerts.
"I have to go to a meet and greet but we can talk later on the bus" Shane kissed her check and ran out of the door.
Mitchie went on the bus alone. She sat on the bed she shared with Shane and looked around her. She wanted more, she needed more. She fell back on the pillow and before she knew it she was asleep.
It's so hard to say
But I've gotta do what's best for me
You'll be ok..
"Shane I need to talk to you" Mitchie said the next day.
"Ok let's talk right after our interview" Shane kissed her and left the bus.
Mitchie knew what she had to do and it was killing her.
I've got to move on and be who I am
I just don't belong here
I hope you understand
We might find our place in this
world someday
But at least for now
I gotta go my own way
"What are you doing?" Shane asked when he returned from his interview.
"I'm packing" Mitchie said not facing him.
"For what?"
"I'm leaving" She said sadly.
"What?!?!Why?!?!"
"This is your world Shane, I just don't belong here" She said sadly finally turning to him.
"You can't leave Mitch. I love you!" He yelled,
"I love you too but I have to do what's best for me" She said grabbing her suitcases making her way out of the bus.
Don't wanna leave it all behind
But I get my hopes up
and I watch them fall everytime
Another color turns to grey
and it's just too hard to watch it all
slowly fade away
I'm leaving today 'cause I've
gotta do what's best for me
you'll be ok..

"Mitchie! Wait!" Shane screamed and ran after her. She was putting her suitcases in the cab with tears streaming down her face.
"I'm going to college Shane. I have to do what's best for me" She said through tears.
"What about us?
What about everything we've been through?" Shane asked.
"What about trust?" She asked.
"you know I never wanted to hurt you" Shane said taking one her hands into his.
"and what about me?" Mitchie asked squeezing his hand.
"What am I supposed to do?"
"I gotta leave but I'll miss you" Mitchie said and pulled him into a hug and he whispered in her ear "I'll miss you."
"so
I've got to move on and be who I am" Mitchie said pulling away.
"Why do you have to go?" He asked again hoping she would change her mind and stay.
"I just don't belong here
I hope you understand"
"I'm trying to understand"
"We might find our place in this
world someday
but at least for now" Mitchie said letting a few more tears fall down her cheeks.
"I want you to stay" Shane said and wiped away some of Mitchie tears.
"I wanna go my own way
I've got to move on and be who I am"
"What about us?" Shane asked as a tear ran down his cheek.
"I just don't belong here
I hope you understand" Mitchie gave him one last kiss and got into the cab.
"I'm trying to understand" He said to himself as he watched the cab disappear into the distance.
Mitchie kept looking back, as farther the cab went the smaller he became. She had to remind herself she was doing what was best for her:
