Thanksgiving Kisses
Kakashi hated Thanksgiving. It was just so annoying. Everyone was buzzing around busily when he had nowhere to go. People being a little nicer than usual and making him suspicious in the process. Occasionally someone would ask him to come to their Thanksgiving dinner as an act of "kindness". He would politely decline, just as they both new the person who offered would really want.. He scared people. He was too powerful, too mysterious. Hatake Kakashi was well aware of how people truly thought of him. Power, even when in defense of them, induces wariness and fear in people. He didn't blame them for it nor did he attempt to ease their fear. He could live with his comrades just as well at a distance.
Besides, everyone else in the village had someone to be with today. Tenten and Lee were at Neji's. Sakura had finally gotten Sasuke back home, free of all charges, just in time for the holidays. Even Naruto was bound to be getting all lovey-dovey with Hinata this year. Under the watchful eyes of Kiba, Shino, and Neji, of course. (So maybe he was just being cock-blocked instead?)
Kakashi growled to the street that seemed devoid of everything but fog and ear-splitting silence. He walked without purpose, in a mindless daze. In the end he found himself in familiar surroundings. His traitorous legs had taken him straight to Iruka's house. He had promised himself that he would not come here. Yesterday Iruka had asked him to dinner for today. Thinking him just another person taking pity on him, Kakashi had once again declined. It had hurt to do so because, if he was honest, he had to admit he may just feel a little bit of a lot of. . . something for the ninja. The fact that Iruka's voice had gone shaky and his eyes sorrowful as he made a quick escape, did not help the matter.
Now he stood outside the door, staring into space. Well, it couldn't hurt to simply see him, could it? He was already knocking. It took the smaller ninja a bit longer than usual to answer. But when he did Kakashi could tell that something was wrong, Iruka looked just a slight bit off today. "Kakashi?" Iruka asked a little haltingly. Both men stared at each other, a pregnant silence floating between them. Finally Kakashi asked the only thing that came to mind.
"Are you alone?" Kakashi watched, stunned as Iruka's eyes began to water. Yet, before either of them knew what had happened Kakashi was touching his lips to Iruka's eyes, kissing away his tears. He kissed both Iruka's cheeks and ultimately made it to his lips. Hatake sealed Iruka's lips with his and took his breath away with the simple pressing of lips. When they pulled apart Iruka had trouble speaking.
"Do. . .Do you w-want to come in and have dinner?" Kakashi shook his head. Iruka's eyes began to water again until Kakashi took the other man's hand and pulled him inside. As soon as the door was closed Kakashi once again took possession of Iruka's lips. Soon they were panting as Kakashi relieved them both of their clothing. His last thought before Iruka was again kissing him senseless was that this year he would have something to be thankful for.
