I don't like Connie he is a whinny brat and this is what i think should have happened to him after he disappeared.
Connie had been walking for a long time and he still felt no guilt for leaving his pregnant wife and her family all he was concerned with was himself. Connie was a greedy little thing first and foremost so if leaving his wife was how he would get farther in the world then so be it. The only thing he regretted about leaving was that he didn't take the car when he left, walking as he had found out was tiring and he was hungry and it was starting to get hard to see as the sun set. Well at least he could see the lights of a city in the distance, but they seemed so far away he would never make it maybe he should turn around and go back for the car, he looked behind him, but could not see anything other than dirt and more dirt and oh look at that a rock hidden amongst all that dirt. He knew he would have to keep going forward if he wanted to get anywhere, and maybe he could find some pretty rich girl that he could trick into marring him and then he wouldn't have to worry about working another day in his life and then all he would have to do was get rid of the girl and all the money would be his. Maybe he would keep her around for awhile since it had been awhile since he had had anyone, it also might be suspicious if she were to die so soon after he married her.
Connie, while in his fantasy land, hadn't noticed that he had walked into town nor did he notice that he was getting strange looks as he passed through since he was muttering to himself. Some of the towns people had tried to talk to him to see if he was alright, but he ignored them and continued to mumble to himself on how he could get rich quick. He ended up knocking a poor woman, who had been trying to ask him if he was alright, over and then he had the gall to shout at her to watch were she was going. The woman's husband immediately jumped to her defense by slugging Connie in the face. Connie shouted at him before slapping him in the face. The man laughed since had felt like nothing more than an annoyance, but nothing to get overly hurt about. The man slugged him again and Connie went down clutching his nose. The man laughed telling his buddies he had barely even touched this wimp and he went down crying like a baby. Connie glared and the man kicked him again this time in the stomach then again in the chest and arms and legs, his buddies joining in by cheering him on and getting their own hits in, finally the man gave one more kick to Connie's head which knocked him out cold. When he awoke it was to massive amount of pain and what ever he was on was shaking before he could fully understand what was going on he was knocked out again by another blow to the head. The second time he awoke was to being thrown out of the car, as he now realized that is what he had been in, but soon was out again since his head hit something metal when he landed.
The third time he was awoken, was to a horn blaring, but his mind was so foggy that he couldn't understand what was going on, he turned his head slowly to the right and saw a single light steadily coming closer he couldn't tell what it was. His eyes widened and he didn't even have time to scream or try and move as the train came barreling closer and then all was black and he felt no more. Connie because of his rudeness had gotten beat up and finally tossed to die by the husband of the woman he had knocked over, in the end he got what he deserved for abandoning his wife and unborn child for his own selfishness. He wouldn't be missed, to the rest of the world he was just another vagabond that had died just like the thousands of others, to the family of his wife he was a deserter and they would not morn him, and to Rose of Sharon, he died with her child.
