Spike awoke in the darkness, not sure exactly how he got here, whereever here is. That had been happening a lot lately. That Git Warren was pacing at the other end of the room. Or was it Glory? His head kept spinning and suddenly he was over come with the faces of the dead. The dead he had killed. The dead he had tortured and killed. He got to his feet using the wall for support. He shuffled forward and his boot hit something, he bent down to examine it, a knife covered in blood. He was aware of the pain in his chest and his hand went to it instinctively and he found a hole. It was no longer bleeding thanks to his vampiric healing abilities. He spotted his shirt on the floor by the Master and he went to pick it up. At least he had the sense not ruin his only shirt.

He opened the door and walked around the labyrinth underbelly of the mysterious building. He found a ladder and climbed up. A polished floor and rows of lockers greeted him. 'The new school, eh?'

He went out a side door and saw movement in the bushes and went into autopilot. Once he caught the rabbit he drained it a tossed the animal aside. Feeling a little better. The sanity slow gaining control of his spinning mind.

'This soul is killing me. What in bloody hell was I thinking? I'll never get Buffy....' His thoughts trailed to the pain he had caused her. She would never see him unless he forced her too. 'Bit would be attending the school, I can get her to me with a simple plan even Buffy would see.'

It was a harmless spell, one that would never actually hurt Dawn or Buffy. And besides a vengeance talisman would serve the bint right since it was because of her he was like this. He placed the talisman on the counter in the girl's bathroom and turned around to face the mayor. "I told you a soul was no good. I never found a use for mine."

He made his way back to his room and listened to Adam rant and rave for hours.

He had fallen asleep again and was awakened by noise outside his door. He couldn't remember why he was here or what that infernal racket could be. Then he heard Her voice. He moved to open the door but it opened for him. Everything was clear for a moment. Her face brought everything to right. Then she asked him a question he thought was totally absurd. "Are you all right?" He laughed the laugh of the mad and was brought up short by her beauty once again. He reached out touched her to make sure she was real. He saw the revenant raise the pipe but she enchanted him. "Duck."

He watched her crumple and then spring back to fight them off and shut herself into the room with him. He watched her movements with awe and appreciation.

She was talking and he was answering, but he was only watching her. She was real, and really here. Then he remembered the wound and pulled he shirt closed and went to the wall for support. She followed him and pulled the shirt aside and placed her hand over the wound. Her heat burned him, as it should have, since he was evil and she was good, but he relished it.

"What did you do?"

"I tried to cut it out."

A shrill noise pulled her attention away from him and he fell to the floor at the loss of her touch. But she was still unsure of what was going on. He offered the answer he seemed to know, but he didn't know why. And then she left She always left. So now there was just he and Drusilla. Alone. In the darkness where he belongs.
