Hellboy Junior: A Titanic Mystery

by Futuramakid

DISCLAIMER: I own neither Hellboy or the Teen Titans. I do, however, claim little Junior as my own.
A/N: This takes place in an alternate timeline from the major DC continuities and the normal Hellboy continuity.

"It's a boy!"
Those 3 simple words would change the life of Anung Un Rama, better known to the world as Hellboy, forever.
"Liz... I have so much to learn..."
"As do I. We can do it together," his love reassured him.
The child that was born that day was named Helki. The name was the result of a superstitious Miwok nurse unwilling to write the word "Hell" on a birth certificate. It stuck, at least as his full name. However, anyone who knew him to any degree knew he preferred Hellboy Junior, or plain Junior. If you were at any point to ask Junior what he wanted to be when he grew up, there was always one answer, one thing he wanted to do: be a hero like his Dad. He looked like his father, too. His eyes were the same shade of yellow, his horns he filed to knubs, his father's let black hair, and of course his father's tail. He always, from some point in Kindergarten, wore a weighted glove on his right hand. His way of mimicking his father's famed Right Hand of Doom. Once he passed second grade, at any time he could, he'd read the files on his father's exploits. He researched heavily on the supernatural and paranormal.

Today...
Hellboy Junior is preparing for the first step towards being a big-time hero- Applying to the Teen Titans. The group had changed since it's early days. No longer was it adult free. Mentoring the members were founding members of the Titans, Starfire and Nightwing. He anxiously filled out the form, sealed the envelope, and dropped it into the mailbox. He was sure this was the beginning of an exciting journey.

That night...
He sat down at the table. Dinner tonight was his favorite- pot roast, and fire roasted vegetables, a la Mom.

He dug into his plate.
"So, do anything interesting today, son?" his father asked.
"I sent in my application for membership to the Teen Titans," he said eagerly to his dad. Hellboy smiled.
"Kid, if I learned one thing in life, it's that ya don't need approval from costumed jerks ta be a hero."
"Now, honey, we've been over this," Liz tells her husband.
"Yeah, yeah, I know... It's safer for the boy if he's in a group," Hellboy says, "but I'm just sayin'--"
"Well, don't," she says to him.
Junior ate a bit more, and excused himself from the table.

A couple days later...
Nightwing looked at the latest application. He read it through again.
"Application for Membership in the Teen Titans

FULL NAME: "Helki" Hellboy Jr.

HERO NAME: Hellboy Jr.

RACE: Half-demon.

ABILITIES: Impenetrable to fire. Pyrokinesis from my mother's side. Enhanced strength. Healing factor. Knowledge on the supernatural and paranormal. Use a specially designed weighted glove to emulate Hellboy's Right Hand of Doom. Possibly other latent demon abilities."
"Well, this looks like a job for a specialized instructor," he thought to himself. He picked up his Titans communicator.
"Rae? I think I may have an applicant of interest to you..." he began.
"Oh?" she responds.
"Another half demon. The son of Hellboy."
Silence follows for a moment.
"...you're not kidding, are you?" she replies.
He smirks. He knows already she's interested.

"Nope. He just sent in an application. But I'm not sure we could handle him..."
"I'm there," Raven says immediately.
"Good," he says, "See you soon."
He hangs up and turns to his wife.
"Get a room ready, Star, we're having an old friend over."
