Annabeth didn't trust Percy with many things, for example her pens. Of all the things Riptide can do, kill monsters, reappear in his pocket, be easily disguised, it can't write. So every time Percy comes over for homework help he always, always ask for a pen, and gods know where they all are now!
Another thing Annabeth can't trust him with is blueprints, especially those of Olympus. He once came too her asking for blueprints, saying that "Poseidon wants me to check how his temples going". Of course Annabeth thinking it was a real request by the real Poseidon, lent them to him. A day later Annabeth asked for them back, Percy lost them. A week later he found them again, in his pocket after a ride in the washing machine.
Then there was her cell phone, thank god she had a warranty for it because the last time he borrowed it to call Sally it was thrown at a hellhound. Of all things he could throw in that split second during the attack he chose her phone! Really? It would have been at least OKAY if that decision to throw her blackberry at the monster had killed it. But no it was just cell phone wasted to the mouth of a hellhound.
But there was one thing that Annabeth trusted Percy with…..
They walked the tunnel, Percy a bit ahead leading the way with a glowing riptide, trying not to make a sound. The cavern smelled of rotting meat and something burning, the lair of a dragon. Then to the left she heard a scratch, then hissing. She motioned for Percy to stop Turning to her left again there was a ball of flames coming right at her.
All of a sudden in her semi moment of shock, Percy lunged at her knocking her down before it hit.
"You okay?", He asked concern in his voice as he stood up and offered her his hand.
"fine", she responded brushing herself off, "let's go!".
And they charged toward the beast
Annabeth trusted Percy with the one thing she didn't with other, her life.
