Kolee and Deidre: Beginning of a Friendship

"We need to find her some clothes," Porsche said, glancing at the girl in the blanket, sitting against the wall.

"She's about my size. You go, I'll take her and meet you in our room," Maggie told her.

Porsche walked down the brightly lit hall and turned the corner to the elevator. It shut behind her, the markings forming an iconic "X."

Maggie walked over to the girl and stood by her for a minute, then grabbed her by the hand, pulling her to the elevator. They girl's eyes were dazed yet alert at the same time, much like hers. The girl followed her up to her room where Porsche was digging through Maggie's bras.

"Clothes, ja," Porsche said as she handed the girl some white jeans and shirt, plus some undergarments.

The girl's blanket fell as she took the clothes and stared at them, unblinking.

Maggie folded the blanket and put it at its rightful new home at the end of her bed. She turned around to see the girl holding the bra with only the underwear on. Maggie knew what she had to do.

She walked behind her and lifted her arms and reached around, then hooked the clasps at her spine. She shimmied it up to the right spot and pulled the girl's arms underneath the straps.

The girl looked down and said, "Oh."

She picked up the shirt and jeans, put them on, and then gave a dashing smile to Maggie.

"You need a name," stated Maggie.

"Deidre."

Maggie nodded. "I knew that'd be a good one for you."

"Well, I really should get going. You know, lots to see, lots to…do," said Porsche as she took her leave.

"You know, both those boys are gay," shouted Maggie as Porsche skipped out the door.

"That's okay!" were her last words.

Maggie took Deidre down to the main lobby, glancing back every once and a while as Deidre tried to copy her walk. She took her to the kitchen, where a short, crazy haired girl in a purple swimsuit was eating spaghetti.

"Oh, hey Mags," she greeted Maggie, who narrowed her eyes at her. The girl only smiled.

"Hey, Kolee, mind watching this one? Her name's Deidre. She's one of the new ones."

"You already know my answer," Kolee sighed.

Maggie nodded and left the kitchen, face as expressionless as ever.

Kolee looked away from the swinging door to Deidre, observing her. Deidre did the same.

Kolee finished her meal then jumped off the counter and put the dishes in the dishwasher.

"So…I have homework to do before I give you the grand tour. I have some magazines you can read, though…"

"Sure," Deidre said. She knew what a magazine was, but hadn't read any, because Graffiti had never actually read one.

She followed Kolee back upstairs, this time entering a different bedroom on the other side of the same hall. Kolee plopped down on her bed, which was piled high with papers. Deidre went to the other bed and sat down. Kolee tossed her a flimsy magazine and sat up, slouching over to start her work.

Deidre mimicked her position and opened the cover.

Ok. So here's a one shot using some of my characters. Yes, they are in the X-Mansion. Kolee arrives before Maggie and Porsche and Porsche's sister, Sophie, who arrive a couple months before Deidre. I don't want to give too much away, because I plan on writing it at some point . They all appear in my other story, A Constant. A Constant is Toad's point of view of my whole grant scheme. So stay tuned!

Thanks
