Sugar Kisses

Author's note: this is just a one shot I had the urge to do: Half Blood Prince

Ginny shivered outside in the cold. November and still Filch insisted that they were to be outside at breaks. He said a few light shows wouldn't hurt anyone. 'A few light showers? It's bloody tipping it down!' Ginny chattered as she stood under the arch sheltering her self from the rain. Ginny cursed herself for not bringing her coat out with her. Harry, as though reading her mind immediately slipped his own green hooded jumper off and pulled it around Ginny. She gratefully put it on and turned to him. Harry slipped his arms around Ginny's waist and pulled her closer. 'I don't know why you're so cold; you look pretty hot to me.' Harry grinned kissing her nose gently. Rain dripped from his hair and landed on her cheek: he brushed it away with his hand softly. 'Why are you so amazing?' Ginny whispered burring her head in his chest. Harry ran his hands trough her damp hair and cuddled her. 'Because I have you.' He murmured in reply.

Ginny rustled around in her bag and produced a sugar quill. Harry looked at her quizzically as she put it in her mouth and sucked happily. Ginny smiled up at him and crunched a bit off the quill. Harry bent his head slightly and took up the other end of the quill. They ate the quill within a matter of minutes and were left with sugar all over their mouths. 'Do you think we should tell Ron we're going out? I mean, he's your best friend and my brother; we can't hide it from everyone forever.' Ginny reasoned as they remained hugging. Ginny wrapped her arms under his cloak to keep them warm. Harry lowered his hands to Ginny bum and gave it an appreciated squeeze. Ginny didn't even flinch at this, but kissed him gently on the lips, sharing their sugar. Ginny tasted great, even covered in sugar Harry thought to himself. He kissed her forehead and cheeks – now fully covered in sugar Ginny giggled and kissed Harry too. Looking over Ginny's head Harry could see two figures approaching across the courtyard, their heads bowed with the rain. Harry and Ginny sprang apart immediately as they neared. Hermione and Ron emerged to under the Arch and shook them selves. 'A light shower, how very kind Filch it's a bloody storm!' Hermione seethed

performing the charm on all four of them to dry them off. 'Why are you both covered in sugar?' Ron asked suspiciously eyeing both of their sugary faces. 'Oh, Ginny had a sugar quill and we had a bit of… a … uhm…' Harry struggled to come up with a story. 'Sugar fight?' Ginny suggested weakly. 'How long have you been going out?' Hermione said distractedly as she put her wand back into her robe. 'I... what… we're not…' Harry started. He and Ginny were both turning pink, and not from the cold. 'It's a bit obvious, Harry you have lip-gloss on you ear did you know? Or was it to trap nargles before they can fly into your ear?' Luna said joining them as Hermione dried her off. Harry wiped his ear with his sleeve. 'Oh and your wearing Harry's jacket Ginny.' Hermione added grinning like she did when she knew she was right. 'I… oh… fine. Two weeks tomorrow. We were going to tell you but Ron wasn't happy when he found Ginny and Dean kissing…' Harry trailed off looking out to the rain for help. 'We'll you'd rather it Harry than Dean wouldn't you Ron?' Ginny asked, Harry re-looped his arms around Ginny's waist and held her close again. 'Well I suppose but don't go snogging in front of all of us.' Ron said shrugging not looking at Harry and Ginny kissing. 'Hark at you; you were all over Lavender only two weeks ago!' Ginny said outraged but smiling. She licked the sugar of Harry's lips and Ron pointedly turned to join Hermione and Luna's conversation about nargles and lip-gloss. Harry kissed Ginny deeply and Ron made a sort of grunt showing he wasn't watching. 'You really are amazing.' Ginny whispered. 'So are you, you taste of sugar.' Harry replied happily.
