My First Fanfic ever! Reviews are helpful. Ideas with how to continue the story and make it better are more than welcome! The first chapter is very focused on the new characters, but the others won't all be. I promise!
Disclaimer: I don't own glee or anything associated with glee and its characters, but if I did... I can't find words to express how awesome that would be.
Enjoy!
Quinn Fabray tied her yellow soccer cleats and jogged out onto the field with the rest of the William McKinley Girls Varsity Soccer team. After leaving the Cheerios last year, causing the team to lose at National's Qualifiers, Ms. Sylvester said Quinn, and her friends Brittany and Santana, could never be WHMS cheerleaders again. With only glee club to keep her occupied, Quinn had begun to obsess over things, like winning Finn back, or finding a way to shut up that awful Rachel Berry.
Quinn had played soccer until 8th grade, but quit to be a cheerleader. She decided that being on the team might help with her anger issues. She began practicing every day and tried out for the soccer team when school started. Luckily, her skills from years ago, and lack of talent on the small team, had secured her a place in the starting line-up.
Quinn took her place as striker, and started the game with the kick-off. She passed the ball to the center midfielder, Grace, the only starting freshman on the team, and the game began.
The other team was competition for the McKinley girls, but they managed to win 2-1 after Grace and Quinn had each scored in the last five minutes of the game. The team was ecstatic, and after shaking hands with their opponents, Quinn led them in a McKinley High cheer she had remembered from her days on the Cheerios.
Grace caught up to Quinn after the team had dispersed. Quinn knew the spunky 14 year old from her church, where she was in the choir, and had planned to ask her to join glee club. Maybe this would be a good time. She thought.
"Hey Quinn, I just wanted to say that you played really well today."
"Thanks, you too."
Grace smiled and left to join her family.
"Hey Grace wait up!" Quinn yelled after her. Grace stopped and turned to Quinn.
Quinn had planned asking her to be a Glee club member ever since Mr. Shue had told them that Glee Club desperately needed recruits, and as one of the seniors leaving the New Directions, she felt obligated to get a new member to take her place.
"I wanted to talk to you about Glee Club," Quinn said, and Grace's eyebrows rose.
"Glee Club?"
"Yes, the New Directions, we need members. I know you sing in church so I thought you might like to join."
"Oh that sounds fun," Grace hesitated, "are there auditions?"
"Yup. Next Tuesday before practice. You can sing whatever you want, and everyone who wants to join will get in."
"I'll be there," Grace looked as her family ushered her to hurry up. "Well, I'll see you Sunday and you can tell me more about this Glee Club thing!"
"Bye!" Quinn turned around and celebrated to herself. Glee club was getting a new member.
Finn walked out of the locker room, still exhausted from Football practice. He grabbed his phone and texted Rachel, letting her know that he was running late for their date at Breadstix and that he would be there ASAP. He hit SEND and looked up from his phone, and realized he was an inch away from crushing the JV football team's newest quarterback, Jared Flanagan.
"Oh, sorry dude!" Finn muttered as he stepped around the nearly 6-foot tall freshman. He walked to the parking lot and then turned around.
"Hey, Jared," the blonde, curly haired boy looked up to see Finn talking to him again.
"Yah," Jared responded, intimidated by Finn.
"Didn't JV practice end like an hour ago?" Jared nodded and Finn offered, "Do you want a ride home?"
"Yah, thanks." Jared got up and hauled his sports bag as he walked to Finn's car. "I broke my phone and my brother seems to have forgotten to pick me up again."
"No problem. You may have to tell me how to get to your house though; I'm not good with street names and such."
Jared laughed slightly and told Finn his address. He started telling him how to get there when Finn realized that Jared lived just down the street from him.
"Hey, you live like five houses away from me. I know how to get there." Finn made a mental note to get to know his neighbors better. The Hummel-Hudson's had apparently not been very social since they moved into their new house.
"Really? I've never seen you before." Jared looked at Finn trying to remember if he recognized him at all, but besides from watching football games last year and wishing to be Finn someday he had no memory of ever seeing him.
"We just moved in," Finn turned on the radio and started humming to the song.
"Is your brother the one who sings show tunes along with his pink i-pod as he runs?"
Finn laughed, "Yes, that would be Kurt."
Jared laughed, and then started humming along to the song playing in the car. When the chorus came he started singing the words quietly.
Finn heard Jared sing, and his mind went back to Mr. Shue's lecture in glee club.
"Hey Jared, I didn't know you sang."
Jared blushed slightly, obviously embarrassed, and stopped singing along to the radio.
"I don't" he repilied, "Well not like in a band or anything, just in the shower sometimes. I'm not that good."
"Actually, you kinda are. Ever thought about Glee Club?" Finn was going to work hard to get someone to take his place when he graduated this year.
"Glee club? Like a group of singers?"
"Yah dude, it's totally cool." Finn lied.
"Are you in it?"
"I practically started it," Finn was willing to try anything to get this kid on the New Directions.
"I'll give it a shot," Jared figured it wouldn't hurt to get on the Varsity Quarterback's good side, and he did like to sing.
"Auditions are next Tuesday, and you can sing whatever you want." Finn was excited to tell Rachel about his new discovery for glee club.
"Can I play my guitar?"
Finn nodded and pulled into Jared's driveway, "Of course."
Jared got out of Finn's car, "Cool, well see you Tuesday. Thanks for the ride!"
Finn watched the lanky kid walk into his house, and pulled out of the driveway. He celebrated about his new recruit, and drove to Breadstix to meet Rachel.
Kurt Hummel walked into the incessantly silent school library. He was running low on shopping money, and since Blaine's birthday was coming up he decided to tutor kids for extra money. Kurt wasn't overly smart, but his days at Dalton had improved his studying habits, and his grades were better than ever. He searched for the table where he would meet Maddie, the freshman he was tutoring in Global History.
He walked past a blonde girl with a stunning outfit made of a simple patterned dress and a matching navy blazer and continued to look for the usual Hollister clad freshman with overly flat ironed, sun bleached hair.
"Kurt?" The blonde girl questioned as he walked by. Kurt paused.
"Are you Maddie?"
The girl nodded and Kurt couldn't believe his luck. He was tutoring someone with a genuine sense of style.
"So," Kurt said sitting down, "I'm going to help you with History, but by the looks of things you're going to have to help me shop sometime."
"I'd love to!" Maddie squealed.
The two got to History tutoring quickly, but Kurt and Maddie talked fashion for nearly the whole time.
"Well, Miss Maddie, since we accomplished no Global History work, this session will be on me." Kurt said as he got up from the library table.
"Thanks Kurt, see you next week."
"My pleasure."
Maddie walked away softly singing a song by Darren Criss, which caught Kurt's ear. Not only was the song amazing, but so was her voice. Kurt noticed she had left her cell phone behind, and Kurt ran to catch up and give it to her.
"Maddie, your phone." Kurt tapped her shoulder and she turned around.
"Oh, thanks. I didn't even realize I left it." She smiled at him and put the phone in her bag.
"I heard you singing earlier."
"That happens a lot. I'm a bit obsessed with Darren and his songs."
"So am I," Kurt continued, hoping Maddie would consider his idea, "Have you thought about joining glee club?"
"This school has a glee club?" Maddie looked excited, "I've always wanted to be in a glee club. It looks super fun!"
"The New Directions is having Auditions on Tuesday, but I don't think we'll be making any cuts."
"Can I sing whatever I want?"
"Yes."
"I'm in! See you then Kurt!"
"Bye!" Kurt said as she walked away. He walked to his car, giddy from his accomplishment, and drove home belting to the radio.
So what did you think? I'll try to update within the next few days, but reviews with ideas on what to write next would be helpful and I might update sooner. Thanks for reading!
