Episode 7: Hannah Levy- Israeli Clone
"What should we name these kids?" asked Sarah Manning, looking at Helena's new babies who were in Mrs. S's arms. Alison and Cosima had come over right after Sarah called them. "God, they're precious", said Alison. Then, she had an idea. "We'll name one Elizabeth, after Elizabeth Childs", she said. "Who was that?" asked Hannah. "One of us, but tragically, she bought the farm", Cosima whispered. "Bought the what?" asked Hannah, confused at this expression. She sort of had an idea what it meant though but she wanted to deny it. Her heart was quivering, so much had happened. She wasn't used to so many things happening at once. She grew up in Yavne with two parents who were older than average parents, no siblings, and a clean and proper lifestyle unlike what she'd seen here. "Oi, Beth killed herself", said Sarah, then she whispered, "I saw it". "Oh god", said Hannah, "I need to sit down". She began to feel dizzy, like she'd faint. "What should we name the other one?" asked Alison. "Let me see her", said young Kira. Mrs. S handed Kira the baby that didn't yet have a name. "Careful, Kira love, be sure to support her head", she told Kira, as she handed her the baby. Kira smiled and looked around the room. "Cosima, what's your middle name?" she asked. "Eve", said Cosima. "We will call her Eve", said Kira, looking at the sleeping bundle in her arms. "Elizabeth and Eve", said Alison, wiping a tear from her eye, "Let me hold them". Kira handed Eve to her and Mrs. S handed Elizabeth to her. Helena was so entranced that she forgot to go to the kitchen to eat. After several minutes of Alison looking at the girls and making baby noises, Helena said, "Let me see my babies". Alison handed them to her. "Do you know how to feed them?" asked Mrs. S. But they had been stunned to see that Helena already had one baby on each breast and was giggling about it. "Uh- we don't need to see this", said Sarah, putting her hand on Kira's eyes. "Hannah, we got work to do", said Cosima, "I've decoded that gene sequence, we just need to take it to the doctor". Hannah was coughing up blood in a tissue she had found in her pocket. "I've gotta pick up my kids from soccer practice", said Alison. As Alison opened the door, Felix came in and said, "Hey guys, what did I-" he was cut off when he saw Helena nursing the girls. "Holy shite, Helena!" he exclaimed. "She's just breast feeding them, it's really not that bad", said Mrs. S. "There are children present!" Hannah exclaimed. "Big deal, I used to watch my aunt breast feed her kids when I was a kid", said Cosima. Hannah was surprised that Kira was being very mature about it. If Hannah had been watching something like that at her age, she would have been laughing like crazy. "Felix, this Hannah, the Israeli clone we've been telling you about", said Sarah, introducing the two. "Nice to meet you but this is awkward", said Felix.
