What if…
I am the girl who held your friendship,
as you like to call your bullying,
come back to earth to tell you this simple thing:
I never liked you-not one bit.
When I hugged you,
I thought of snapping you in two.
When I watched you kiss your boyfriends,
I wanted to leap and unman you with a slap.
I resented the way you moved,
your lack of female grace,
the way you would sit and stuff your face,
a toothbrush in your bag, food in your hand.
I would have run away,
but I was too naive, a trick you taught me
while I was learning of dresses and high heels,
and-greatest of insults—to hide my color with tricks.
I admit the sight of the mall
would excite me
but only because it meant I was about
to buy things you could never afford.
You do not want to believe this,
but I have no reason to lie.
I hated your car, your earth toys,
disliked your "friends" and, worse, your school.
The jingling of my friendship bracelet drove me mad.
You always laughed at me at the wrong times.
All I ever wanted from you
was a smile and a helpful hand to help me with my secret identity.
While you talk, I watched you prattle
as the sun rose in the sky.
It took all of my strength
not to raise my head and scream.
Now I am free of the friendship bracelet,
the cheerleading dress, V shaped t-shirt,
the absurdity of your hair,
and that is all you need to know about this place
This place called mars
