Balthazar sat in his chair, relaxation taking over his body as he listened to the record play throughout the house. It was slow, a few small skips happening from the age of it. For some reason Castiel had grown attached to this singer the name of Elvis. The music was really the only thing that really broke the tense atmosphere. He was waiting; waiting just as he had done for months, years. He had even gotten certified in medicine in the time that Castiel was on his leave. The telegram was sent in already, saying that the Vietnam War was ending soon so he would be returning.
It was a hard thing to do, wait for your partner to return from the war after years. Castiel went into the war in 1960 and now at 1975, he was to be coming home. Balthazar smiled, picturing in his mind seeing Castiels smile once he was back. He thought of waking up beside him again, feeling the warm and smelling his scent fill through the house when he walks by. He missed his scent, the smell of watermelons and cinnamon.
All he had to live off of while Castiel was away was memories, a few telegrams, and music. He had especially gotten attached to a song by the name of "Love Me Tender", which was what he was listening to now as his mind went back over every memory he had with Castiel so that when he walked through the door, it'd be like there was no absence between them. He didn't want a rift between them. So, as he sat, rocking gently in his chair with an empty wine glass hanging loosely between his fingers, he sang softly out to the song and shut his eyes to absorb everything, from the beginning
