Hanako's story

Chapter 1

The sun shone brightly and a bird sang from its purch on a branch of the gient cherry tree that grew in the front yard of the Himura House. The only other sound that could be heared where the tumps coming from the kitchen and some music. A loud yell followed by a few loud thuds where suddenly heared. A loud enradge shout followed.

"HANAKO! GET DOWN HERE RIGHT NOW!"

The said girl appeared at the top of stairs and looked down at the person who had yelled for her.

"You called Mika?"

"Well du who else do you think has a beautiful voice like me?" Mika snapped sarcastically. "How many times have I told you not to leave your bag at the top of the stairs? I am so fed up with having to trip over it and fall down the stairs. The grazes I get from falling ruins my beautiful complexion."

"You should stop whining and take a look at the bag before screeching at me." Hanako answered calmly as she pushed her glasses up her nose. "That's your bag you tripped over and not mine."

"No, it was…" Mika looked at the name tag and glared at Hanako. "Shut up Four eyes."

Mika stood up and stormed off down the hall pausing to admire her reflection in the mirror. Hanako rolled her eyes when Mika let out a squeal about her makeup being smudged.

"Oi Radish Head" a grumpy sounding voice growled, and a hand grabbed her braid and pulled it hard.

"Ouch" Hanako yelped a bit before turning her head to glare at her older brother. "What do you want Takeshi?"

"Nothing. Just wanted to let you know that I'll drop you of at school today. I let Mika talk me into dropping her of at the mall, so I may as well take you to school while I'm at it Radish Head. Just cover up your freckles before we leave. They look horrible."

"Your attitude is horrible to." Hanako muttered as she turned and walked back into her room.

"AND PUT YOU CONTACT LENSES IN WHILE YOU'RE AT IT." Takeshi yelled after her.

"I will after breakfast!" Hanako call back as she covered her freckles with some concealer that Mika had given her.

Everyday. It was always like this. For as long Hanako could remember, she had always been the odd one out in her family. No matter what she did or how hard she tried her family never accepted her. School was same. Her teachers where always picking on her and the student where just as bad. Mika and her friends usaly skipped school to go shopping and sometimes helped out at the flower shop. Takeshi had finished school the year before and now worked part time in black markets. He was ok to hang around with if he got a good night's sleep and wasn't in a bad mood. Hanko was the only one who had to go to school every day and usaly had to run deliveries after school or stay in her room because no one wanted her around the house where she could be seen.

"HANAKO, GET A MOVE ON!" Sayoko hollered from the bottom of the stairs.

"Coming, mom" Hanako answered as she quickly shoved the case that held her contact lenses into her school bag and hurried downstairs to the kitchen.

"You certenly took your time." Ryozo scolded Hanako as she sat down at the table. "If you don't hurry up you are going to be late for school."

"Sorry dad. I had to grab my contact lenses from my room." Hanako apologized as she quickly scoffed down some breakfast.

"Well next time don't forget them in the first place."

"Yes dad."

"Come on I'm leaving" Takeshi called from the door way.

"coming Takeshi" Hanako called back as she rinsed her bowl and placed it in the dishwasher, before chasing her brother to the car.

"Well you sre took your time" mika grumbled from the front seat as Hanako did up her belt.

"Shut up Mika" Takeshi snapped at his sister. "I'm not in the mood for your crap today."
