Heya guys! Soft here. So. This was really depressing for me to write, now I feel like I need a million chocolate bars and six boxes of fluffy kittens xD
But please, enjoy, and R&R! ^-^

'No.'

Robin stood still, shock resounding through his body as he watched the scene unfold in front of him.

The gun went off, and the Joker's laughing sounded distorted and chilling, his red stained jaw gaping wide. As he watched the bullet hurtle towards him Robin closed his eyes, his heart pounding in his ears.

So this is how he'd go out. Not some heroic death like he always imagined, he'd die because a careless mistake. One that cost him his life.

"Robin! No!"

Time started going faster, and Batman leapt in front of Robin, staggering backwards slightly as the bullet pierced his armour. "BATMAN!" The scream tore its self from the young hero's throat and he lunged at the Joker, tears blinding his vision.

Joker hit him with the butt of the gun and back away, firing a shot into Robin's leg and running off towards his helicopter as Robin collapsed.

Gritting his teeth he pulled himself over to his mentor's body, ignoring the blood streaming from his wound. "Batman, please no." He whispered, tears leaking out from under his mask as he desperately searched for a heartbeat.

He tore off the kevlar chest-plate and placed his head to the faintly rising chest, sobs catching in his throat as he found the faint pulse.

"Batman...Bruce. Bruce, please wake up. Don't leave me alone, you promised!"

He could faintly hear police sirens in the distance, heading towards the building they were currently situated on. Fisting his hands he dug them into the concrete roof, ignoring the sharp pains from the glass shards scattered around.

"Dick..."

Bruce stirred slightly and tried sitting out, a soft groan escaping his lips as he took in the bullet wound.

"Bruce, just lie down. You'll be okay. It'll be okay."

Dick swallowed hard and closed his eyes, tears leaking when he felt Bruce's strong hands weakly grasp the back of his head, pulling him into a hug. "I'm sorry, I can't..." Bruce's grasped weakened and Dick buried his head into Bruce's shoulder, tears slipping down his cheeks.

"I know. It's okay. It'll be okay." Bruce closed his eyes and shook his head weakly. "I'm supposed to take care of you... Be there for you..." He coughed into his hand and it was stained red when he pulled it away.

"We'll be okay Bruce." Dick whispered.

When Gordon and his team rushed onto the roof, they were expected Batman and Robin waiting with Joker, Robin grinning as he fiddled with his computer. Instead they saw Batman lying on the concrete pavement, blood pooling around him as Robin lay curled up beside him, hands fisted in the black cape.

Rain started falling softly and thunder rumbled in the distance, a fitting mood for the fallen hero.

No one wanted to break the moment, but Gordon knelt down beside Robin, placing a gentle hand on the young superhero's shoulder as tears flooded the older man's eyes.

"Son, we have to move him."

Robin shook his head and gripped the cape tighter, and Gordon sadly motioned to his police officers.

"No, NO! Don't take me away from him, please!" Robin pleaded, fighting against the strong hands that pulled him away as he struggled. "BRUCE!" He shouted hoarsely, as he tried to twist out of their grasp and fight his way back to his mentor's side.

He stopped fighting out of exhaustion and blood loss a little while later, still crying quietly as he clutched the black cape one of the officers had handed him around his shoulders.

'Gotham needs you. The league needs you... I need you.'

If I die young, bury me in satin

Lay me down on a, bed of roses

Sink me in the river, at dawn

Send me away with the words of a love song
