WE COULD HAVE HAD IT ALL
"It never would have worked out between us."
Jack gritted his teeth as he stared at the blonde. It was harsh, to hear his own words repeated to him. He just stared into her soft brown eyes.
"Jack?" Elizabeth worried, her eyes focused on him.
Without a second thought, Jack swept her up and kissed her. A long kiss, a proper kiss. A kiss that promised many things, both sinful and happy, all passion and no trickery. A kiss that curled her toes, stopped her breathe and excited her heart.
And soon, she was kissing him back.
Shortly after, they had rescued a chaplain who was indebted to them. They asked him a favor, and in three minutes, they were wed. Jack took his lovely bride into their chambers, and enjoyed a honeymoon that lasted for days, until they both couldn't stand the lack of sun.
About a year later, Jack was holding his first child. He promised her the sun, the moon, the sea. Promised her that she would be able to choose for herself in her life. Threatened any future boys that if they came within three feet of his beautiful daughter, they would meet the ocean floor.
Many moons would past until he stood with his wife at his daughter's wedding at the Cove, watching as their little girl began a new life. That night, Jack and Elizabeth would set sail for their last adventure together, where they would be buried side by side, forever near and forever with each other.
"Jack?" Elizabeth asked again, looking nervous.
Jack felt his mind shift focus to the here and now, where Elizabeth was leaving the Pearl to start a new life with her dead husband.
"Keep telling yourself that, darling."
