Moze Brown, a twenty year old hero, sat patiently in a hospital bed. Well, technically his name was Mozor Brown, but God was that a strange name. He honestly didn't know what his parents were thinking when they named him Mozor.

But that's for another day, and another story. For now, he had to focus on trying to calm down his sobbing girlfriend.

"Mikoto," he gently scolds, but there was no malice in his voice. He just sounded tired, like he'd run two marathons back to back with no rest. It doesn't help with his attempts to convince his girlfriend that he was okay, and she grips his hands a little tighter - well, one hand. His other hand was in a tight sling.

"Moze! You could have died!" She says again, tears in her eyes. He couldn't stand to see her like this.

"I know, I know," he mutters, shutting his eyes for just a moment. He really was so tired, and the heavy pressure of the bandages over his left eye were only making matters worse.

It was his fault, though. He should have called for backup. He should have let somebody know where he was. He had only graduated from Yuuei Academy a little over two years ago, he was a fool to think he could really take down two villains at once on his own. A two-v-one was difficult enough as it was, but for a fresh-out-of-highschool kid like Moze?

He really should have called for backup.

The memories of him laying on the ground, bleeding from his eye so heavily that he thought he'd go blind, were difficult to think of. It must have shown on his face, as Mikoto's gentle hands cup his face, bringing his attention back to her. There was a soft frown on her face, worry in her pale eyes. The tears were still there, but at least they'd stopped flowing.

He offers her a small smile, hoping it was enough to ease her worries. He knew it wouldn't be, knew she would worry no matter what, but he smiled for her all the same.

She opens her mouth again to say something, probably to tell him once again that he was a fool for going in alone.

"I love you," he offers instead.

She shuts her mouth again right away. She opens it, closes it, opens it again - for a moment the green of her skin is replaced with a bright red. Then she breaks out into that goofy little smile he adored so much and she whispered,

"I love you, too."
