It's short, but most one-shots are…

Crystallized Conversations

Glittering lakes and flowers pass slowly by in the distance as a small figure, shrouded in a torn brown cloak climbed the barely worn trail. The being's shoulders were tense listening intently for any fiends that might sneak up from behind. It didn't take long before the traveler made it to the cave.

Boots scuffed against the rocky flooring of the cave as small feminine hands ghosted over the mako crystals that grew from the walls. The figure wandered further into the cave stopping once it reached the end, and there in the center, encased in a large mako crystal was the most beautiful woman the traveler had ever seen. The small hand reached up, gripping the coarse material of the cloak and whipped it off dramatically, revealing a petite ninja with layered, short black hair and steely grey eyes.

"What happening Lucy?" The ninja greeted an energetic and friendly smile on her lips, "You probably don't know me, I really doubt Mr. Tall, Dark, and Broody ever mentioned me, so lemme introduce myself! I am the champion of the earth and sky and the Single White Rose of Wutai, the greatest ninja ever to grace this planet with her awesome presence, Yuffie Kisaragi!!"

The ninja's dramatic introduction was met with silence, not that she cared. "Ya know," she continued, well aware that she was talking to a woman that was thirty years dead and encased in a mako crystal, "I'm a friend of Vincent's and I just wanted to come and introduce myself and tell you how's he's doing, cuz Leviathan knows the only thing that idiot ever does when he comes here is sit and mope, or, when he's in a good mood, stare at you. Little weird, but that's our local vampire for you."

Yuffie sunk to her feet and crossed her knee high boots underneath her on the floor, silent for a few moments, "Vinnie's away on a mission right now, that's why I've decided to come. I don't think he would like me coming here, so let's keep it a secret, ok?" She raised a finger to her lips grinning. "Anyway, he's been doing better, he doesn't brood as much, and he talks more, and I swear on my secret material stash the he smiled when I dyed Spikes' hair green." Yuffie giggled at the memory.

"I think…." She said, suddenly calm and sober, "…that he's finally starting to forgive himself. And it's good, because we all know that you're not mad at him, right?" Yuffie sat in silence for a small while, "You remind me of my friend Aeris, ya kinda look like her. She was really nice, always calm and level headed. She died too, Cloud was really upset after that, we all were, but he had it the worst…it took a while but, he got out of his little emo corner, Tifa helped a lot with that…oh!"

Yuffie jumped to her feet in excitement, "I'm gonna make a promise to you Lucy! From now on, I'm gonna cheer Mr. Vampire up whether he likes it or not! K! And if that tomato doesn't smile more often I'll smack him around with my awesome ninja skills! Alright! See you later Lucy!"

And with that Yuffie swung her cloak around her shoulders and bounded out the door, intent on finding her gunslinger and cheering him up.

Inside the mako crystal and small smile made it's way onto Lucretcia Crescent's face.
