Hey, hey, hey! I read a word-prompt fic like this about the Titans and found it to be sorely lacking in strong words. I also had a bit of trouble discerning the correlation between some of the prompts and the sentence or two following it. So I dusted off my writing cap and evicted the family of dust bunnies living underneath the bill to crank out one of my own drabble-y ficlet thingamaboobles. (Don't worry about the dust bunnies. I set them up with a low-rent apartment across town in a good neighborhood and school district. It's even closer to the daddy bunny's job, too, so he can afford to eat breakfast with his wife and kids before work each day.) There were only a few of these that I didn't have to look up, and even then I looked them up anyway just to comprehend the randomness. And the prompt generator was only set to "somewhat uncommon!" Glad I didn't bump it all the way to "obscure" like I wanted to.
Disclaimer: Teen Titans does not belong to me, nor do I reap any monetary gain from the publication of this fanfic.
1. reformatory paycheck
Dick's eyes narrowed as they took in the latest stigma Bruce had attached to his trust fund while his fiancé slept blissfully unaware beside him.
2. monotone chaser
After spending the morning meditating with Raven on the roof in companionable silence, Starfire found Beast Boy's knock-knock joke to be a refreshing change of pace.
3. redoubtable proselyte
Madame Rouge cowered before Jinx's glowing hands and glowering visage as the villainess-turned-heroine advanced protectively in front of the unconscious Kid Flash.
4. overabundant bullring
Between Robin and Starfire's awkward position on the couch, the cake batter still smeared across Cyborg's forehead, and Raven's twitching lips as she held Silkie, Beast Boy could hardly choose which of his friends to make fun of first.
5. tarmac amorphousness
Although Starfire's few years on Earth had yet to grant her understanding of the male homo sapiens' fear of commitment, the correlation between bunny rabbits, chocolate eggs, and a man impaled on a large, wooden T, and when to use definite articles, they had taught her that asphalt did not slither except when covered by Plasmus lurking in ambush.
6. execrable argon
If it hadn't been for that one stupid question on the final about the stupid inert gases, Garfield would have passed that stupid Chemistry class and been allowed to attend the stupid family barbecue this stupid weekend instead of sitting here at this stupid table at this stupid coffeehouse waiting to meet his new, stupid tutor after her stupid poetry club meeting.
7. immoderate hex
Jinx silently admitted that perhaps that last hex had been too much as she helped Kid Flash bandage his injured foot.
8. penetrable dative
"Vielen Dank für die Hilfe, Raven," Starfire thanked her friend as she exited the witch's room. "Dativ ist jetzt sehr leicht."
9. commensurate minuend
Robin sometimes wondered how Starfire could expend so much of herself in order to please others and still have enough left to remain the effervescent girl he loved.
10. plutocratic troth
As Bruce reviewed the many failed schemes he had implemented to prevent his obstinate adoptive son and the young, red-headed foreigner from wedding--coercion, bribery, slander, persuasion--it dawned on him that perhaps not everything could be controlled with a check.
There we go, folks. Ten unnecessarily large prompts that feature various pairings and flit in and out of AU. While I am especially pleased with numbers five and nine, I still did not manage to top the humor of the fic that inspired me, which featured a Silkie that had acquired a taste for human blood. Perhaps I can achieve that goal when inspiration next strikes me.
