Endless Tears

By: ChoCedric

"We gather here today to celebrate the life of Cedric Diggory. He was a wonderful loving person who touched many lives. Today we will hear accounts of how he did so."

As Cho chang listens to the Minister, tears streaming down her face, she knows that the Minister is wrong about today being a celebration. She is in such a state of mourning that she doesn't feel like celebrating. Her love, her everything, has been ripped away from her. She can see his stiff and terrified body lying in the casket. He doesn't look peaceful at all, doesn't look like someone who went out quietly, went out with a smile. Guilt crashes over her – she wishes she could have been there in that last moment, to hug him, to love him, to save him. She would have taken that killing curse, that awful green light, anytime for him. There's an endless void in her heart now, an empty gaping chasm, a place where he should be. As the Minister speaks, anger sweeps over her – he doesn't know Cedric at all, and has no idea what he's talking about. He was much more than just loving and giving; he meant the world to her. She remembers holding his cold, limp hand in the hospital wing, begging his gray eyes to blink, for him to smile, for him to hug her. But he won't ever again, and she knows she's now doomed to a life of misery, of endless tears. The love of her life, her promise of happiness, is gone.
