Carefully Stupid
Summary: Harry watched the news about Sirius Black escaping Azkaban prison. He learns why the wizarding world didn't give him a trial. (One-Shot)

The story
Harry Potter saw the man on the television and broke out in tears. That man was the reason his parents were dead.
When the world found out of Sirius Black's escape from prison Dumbledore found it imperative to tell Harry about the murder's background.
Sirius Black was a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry the same time as his parents. He was their best friend. The Black's were related to every pure blood wizarding family and they were in Voldemort's inner circle along with the Malfoy's.
Everyone trusted him; he was a good student, talented and true to his word. Though he did get into the occasional amounts of trouble he wasn't a bad person. That's what they thought at least, until he turned on them all and gave up Lily and James Potter to the Devil himself and Harry would have died too if not for his mother's love.
The headmaster had told him Sirius would come after him, Harry was the one who killed his master and sent him to Azkaban. But even through all the lies and bitter truths Harry learned that this monster was his godfather.
His parents trusted him not only with their lives but also their only child's. He killed them and would have killed him also, now he's out and vengeful.
Harry was placed in the headmaster's care over the rest of the holidays and he received his father's old books and other belongings. Harry looked through everything. Before he could open the 'Quidditch Though the Ages' book an owl flew through the window and landed on his shoulder. He didn't recognize it but took the letter and after reading the dirty handwriting on the cover he opened it up.
Inside Harry read:
Dear Harry,
How I do hope this letter reaches you safely and securely. I am coming to find you and explain everything to you. You don't know me and most likely think I am out to hurt you and the people you care about. I'm not.
Your parents did not pick me as your godfather for no reason. I have no proof that I am innocent but please believe me. You are the reason I'm still alive, you are my life and my hope for the future. I love you Harry and never doubt that.
Your Godfather,
Sirius Black
Harry re-read the letter and was going to give it to Dumbledore but thought better of it. If it was a trick something would have happened by now. Besides Sirius may never find him. The muggle television set turned to a special news report and said that Sirius Black was still at large and highly dangerous.
