"Please, I'm looking for my daughter."

The short curly haired woman was unable to stop crying as she went over to the nurse at the counter. The ER room was crowded with a few curious heads turned towards the hysterical woman and her husband. The father, a tall handsome fellow with a solemn look on his face gently held onto his wife.

"Your daughter's name, miss?" The nurse behind the desk was calm and alert as she tried to decipher what was coming out of the woman's mouth.

"Dr. Hermione Granger, they called saying she was admitted to ICU."

The nurse immediately got up and went to let the couple into the emergency ward leading to the ICU ward.

Dr. Hermione Granger had her own private IC room. No sound was heard coming from the room, only the soft beeping of the heart monitor as it kept going at an undisturbed, steady rhythm. Hermione was dressed in one of the blue hospital gowns with the covers gently tucked up to her waist. Her hair, having calmed down after Hogwarts, was in beautiful waves spread across the pillow behind her resting head. She looked peaceful, a ghost of a smile on her face.

"What happened to her, why is she here?" Mrs. Granger went and sat down next to her daughter gently taking her hands into her own. It was warm and soft, a hand of a surgeon. Mr. Granger stayed near the foot of the bed looking down at his daughter. It was hard to read anything on his face as he concentrated on Hermione's face.

"Madame" said the nurse in slightly French accent, "your daughter…well Dr. Granger… she is in a coma."

"What do you mean coma? Why? She's healthy, she's always been healthy. What did you do to her?" She got up and went to shake the nurse. Mr. Granger immediately went and held his wife back has he kept apologizing to the shaken nurse. The nurse took a few steps to the room door and waited until the couple calmed down. She looked down at Hermione and tried to get in as much courage as she could before she broke the news.

"The tumour spread to far…" Again she was cut off, but this time by Mr. Granger. "Tumour? My daughter has tumour?"

The disbelief on both parents unnerved the nurse. She walked a little closer to them. She decided on calling security just in case, but thought better of it.

"Sorry," she continued, "do you mean to tell me that you do not know that Dr. Granger has had brain tumour for the past two years?"
