Kate Beckett smiled to herself as Rick cleaned his belongings out of her desk. She had no idea how they had ended up there, but in the two years they had worked together, things must have added up. "C'mon, Katie, you know you're going to miss me." Rick wiggled his eyebrows at her suggestively.

Kate shook her head and shoved his shoulder, "Not in the slightest. And don't call me Katie."

"You look like a Katie," Rick argued. Kate glared and he held his hands up in front of him, "Writer, remember?" He smiled his charming smile.

"Whatever Castle. Just go home." Kate said, pointing him to the door.

"You're going to miss me being at the precinct every day." Rick argued.

Kate shook her head and repeated, "Not in the slightest."

Kate walked into her home, feeling content in the way only home could do. She was instantly suspicious. When you were married to Rick Castle, it was never quiet. She put her bag down by the door, and put a hand on her gun, just in case. She checked the downstairs rooms. The only thing she found in the kitchen was a note from Alexis and Martha saying that they were going out to a play. Kate crept upstairs. She opened the door to her eight-month-old daughter's room. Joanna was pushing buttons on a little toy, while Rick was writing in a notebook beside her.

"Another murder?" Kate asked, leaning on the door. Joanna cooed from her place on the floor, and Rick half jumped.

"I didn't hear you come home." He said, scrambling to his feet.

"Well, I'm here." Kate walked over and scooped up her daughter. "Hello, my darling." She said, kissing Joanna on the forehead. Rick came over and wrapped his arms around them both, notebook hitting Kate in the shoulder.

"Another murder?" She repeated, heading downstairs.

Rick followed like a lost puppy. "No. So you know how my last Nikki Heat novel ended with her giving birth?" Rick didn't even wait for her answer. "This is like a follow up series on her daughter, Jocelyn. Jocelyn is now ten years old and she's a crime solving kid! She goes around the school figuring out who did what. She's like a younger Nancy Drew, except that the real reason she's become a detective is because her mother, Nikki, disappeared when she was six years old, and no one knows why."

Rick went on to describe every possible aspect of his new idea, arms flailing, voice changing. Kate listened, giving Joanna her bottle, and nodding whenever Rick paused for breath. Kate could only smile, after all, she knew that she wouldn't be Rick's muse forever.

This is my first ever attempt at a family moment, how did I do? It may seem a little rushed, but I couldn't think of anything to add to it. I do not own Castle. Reviews are appreciated.
