Man's Worst Friend
The cities lie dead,
cars and buildings now crushed to dust.
Nothing but rubble remains,
in this lost world of hate and pain.
Dogs now nothing but vermin to us all;
we shoot upon sight, and watch the bullets fall.
they merely stare at us, deep down into our souls.
before tearing us apart, and leaving our corpses to rot.
Dogs now roam this barren Earth,
living only to kill and to destroy.
They infect and spread this disease nationwide,
and shatter all that we thought we knew of their kind.
Nine K9s give us most trouble,
they take countless lives,
and endless power.
They strike down the population, as our nation fades.
Each with their own power,
they stand together to beat us down.
All but one, the most dangerous of them all,
XCIX, exists to kill not only humans, but his own kind.
He rips the life from other K9s.
He makes sure that nothing remains,
never looking back,
he kills with vengeance polluting his soul.
He tears through cities,
leaving destruction in his wake,
killing all he sees before him,
for one sole hope.
He dreams to rid the world,
of this vicious threat.
To vanquish his own kind,
and protect his cherished Penny.
