The Second Best Day

Sonny smiled blissfully at the audience in front of her, sitting under a white tent at tabled draped with white table clothes. Sonny's hair fell in light curls, framing her face and laying lightly on the white dress she wore. She was glowing; whether with pride or make-up, no one was sure.

"Thank you all for coming, it means so much for Chad and I to have you all as witnesses on this amazing day," she spoke into the microphone, mounted on the podium in front of her. "I can't believe that it was three years ago that I met Chad…"

"I was babysitting my little brother when he knocked on the door with a package that was supposed to be delivered to my house. I opened the door, and my first thought was, whoa. His hair was blowing in the wind, his eyes were sparkling, and he had a slight smirk on his face as I stood there and gawked. Finally, when he noticed that I wasn't going to talk, he walked inside, right into the front room, no invite, no greetings. Just a random stranger walking into my house.

"So, I finally stopped gawking and said, "Hello." He replied with a miffed, "Hi," and continued, "So this box came to my house instead of mine." She grinned at the memory. "I took the box he held out, and set it down on the floor. "Thanks," I replied. "Um… do you live in the neighborhood?" he stared at me weirdly. "Yeah, that's the reason why it came to my house instead of yours." I blushed with embarrassment.

"Yeah, I guess your right," I had said, letting my hair hide my face. "So…. Um…. Why haven't I seen you before?" His answer was quite blunt. " Because I'm new." I, once again, blushed. "Oh. Okay… Um, so what's your name?"

"Chad Dylan Cooper," he replied, with a cocky smirk. "Oh, I'm Allison Munroe. Well, my names Allison, but I prefer Sonny. Everyone calls me Sonny. You know, I didn't like the name when I was younger, but now it seems to fit me…" "That's nice," he said, giving me this strange look I've came to see quite often." Sonny giggled to her.

"So, um, would you like, to, uh, come in? Well, I guess, more in? "I asked nervously. He looked at the watch on his wrist and replied, "I actually have to get going, sorry." I walked him the short way to the door, and he turned to face me when he walked out. "I'll see you later, Allison 'Sonny' Munroe," Chad told me. I blushed as he turned around and walked down the sidewalk."

"I didn't think that anything could be as great as the day I met Chad," Sonny said, wiping away a tear that had managed to form. "But I was wrong. Now, I will always remember that day as the second happiest day of my life."
