I peered out my window, looking for some inspiration to paint. When I saw Katniss, Gale and Madge outside of Madge's house. At first, I had no idea what Katniss and Gale were doing there, then I saw the little basket of strawberries they handed over to Madge. "Oh, they're selling her strawberries."

I only looked at the strawberries for a minute more, before my gaze traveled back up to Katniss. Her hair was in a side braid as usual, and she was in her hunting clothes. And even though she was slightly covered in dirt from the woods, she still managed to look absolutely beautiful.

As she walked away, I decided I'd paint her. I'd painted her a couple of times, yet none of them could compare to her actual self. I picked up my brush, mixed a couple colors to get the right strawberry color, and began to paint.

I finished the painting about 45 minutes later. It contained Katniss picking berries in the woods. No Gale… Gale. Oh, how I envied him. He got to spend everyday with Katniss. Alone, nevertheless. I had always wondered if there was something between them. I could tell there was something with Gale, the way he looked at her. But I've never seen Katniss look at him that way, but maybe it's different in the woods when no one's around. I wouldn't know. I don't, along with many others, go beyond the fence. And, as far as I know, only Katniss and Gale do.

They bring my father squirrels, but he eats them in his private time. When he doesn't have to share with mom. Sometimes, he'll share with my and my brothers. But not often. The squirrel is the only unstale thing we ever get to eat. Except on special occasions. Then, we'll take one of the fancy cakes from the window, fresh and not stale, and we'll eat that. But it's usually only on birthdays, no other time.

I heard my mother's footsteps coming up the stairs, and quickly put away all my painting supplies. My mother didn't approve of my painting, in fact, she didn't approve of much. She was usually a bitter woman. I'm not entirely sure why either, maybe because she knows about dad and Katniss's mom. He's told me and my brothers before. He fell in love with her mom, but she ran away with a coal miner.

He described it all to us. How he used to visit her in the apothecary shop, and how the first time he saw her.. He knew was a goner. He fell hopelessly in love with a girl who fell in love with a coal miner. And now, here I am. I fell in love with her daughter. And just like him, the second I saw her, I knew I was a goner too.
