Thanks Ceeray3 for indulging me with these things to incorporate into a OS.
Character: Booth
Place: lifeboat
5 Words: Peanut Butter. Quote. Vacation. Solitare. Respect.
Hope you like it.
Being the partner of the world-renowned Anthropologist has it's drawbacks. We should be catching rays together, but we're not. She's doing her discovering-another-extinct-human-society-thing.
Some vacation.
Finally, we decided to go on our first trip together. At first we couldn't decide where to go. I wanted to go Jamaica to enjoy the beach, the drinks and the sun. Bones thought Belize was more suitable. She claims the preservation of ecology and the surrounding environment is far superior than that of a commericalized tourist destination. She added sun was quite adequate, the beaches were more secluded, and better drinks were available. She won.
A few days before we were headed off for two weeks of no death, no reports, no squints, Bones gets a phone call to look at some remains in Guatemala. She thought it was wise to take a look since we'd be in the vicinity.
oOo
Since my vacation is temporarily on hold, I decided to playing solitaire will pass the time. Though one can play this game so many times. I always bring cards when I travel, Parker usually wants to play 'Go Fish', bides time on the plane.
Bones comes into the tent, looks like she's been thinking real hard. 'Thank you for your patience. I know this is not your cup of coffee, Booth, but some important discoveries have been made. I feel comfortable to leave the rest of the dig in the hands of my colleague, Doctor Hayes. We can depart for our real vacation tomorrow.'
'It's cup of tea, Bones, tea. And while I'd rather be soaking up the sun on a beach somewhere, I respect you and your chosen profession. Been partners long enough to know your work will always come first.'
'Booth. . . I've been trying to change. I have worked hard, my work is important.'
'I know, I was stating a fact.' I grin.
'I have a surprise for you. Follow me, Booth.' Bones looks all happy, I can only imagine what kind of surprise she as waiting for me.
'What are you waiting for? Lead the way, babe.'
oOo
We leave the tent, hand-in-hand. Bones is smiling, I hope have something to do with it. It's still light out, but the sun looks like it ready to turn in and get ready for tomorrow.
We are at the beach. No people are around. I spy a lifeboat.
'Booth?' She asks, dragging me out of my thoughts.
'Yeah. . .Bones, we here?'
'We have arrived at our destination. I have procured this lifeboat. I am quite impressed I was able to arrange a picnic as well. Come on, Booth, let's get this program on the asphalt.'
'Show on the road!' I correct her.
Great. I miss pie, macaroni and cheese, and real meat. My kind of meat.
I tell Bones to get in the lifeboat, it's actually a dinghy. I won't tell her since she went to all this trouble. I push it out and jump in.
Bones reaches for the basket. Here we go.
'I know you don't care for the food being served so I thought of something Booth-y' She smiles.
That smile. A little crooked. Gets me every time.
'I'm always hungry, whatcha got Bones?'
'I've never seen you eat a sandwich but it seems to me that would probably make Parker these. Simple! White bread and smooth, creamy unsalted peanut butter.' She hands me one.
'Is there another kind of peanut butter? It's great. Pops used to make these.' I lean over and kiss her. 'The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention. Thank you, Bones'
'Really, since when do you quote authors, Booth?'
I turn and look at her. 'There are some things, you still don't know about me'
As far as I concerned, she can drag me anywhere as long as we're together.
