-I found my other wing-

The bell rings, and I shuffle slowly to class. My strawberry blond bangs covered my eyes. Not enough to blind me, but enough that no one else could see them. My fluffy short hair was constantly messy, not that I bothered to try to fix it. It didn't matter. Not much mattered these days. I slipped silently into class, ignored by my peers as if I was a ghost. I sat in my seat, and watched the teacher take roll. She didn't call my name. She never did. That was something I was used too. I was like a ghost. No one noticed me, no one cared. I was like an angel with one wing. Someone useless, so useless that no one ever bothered to look at me. I was always there, but always silent. Ignored. Useless. It was like I had never existed, like I still don't, but I'm used to it. Who would want to see a useless boy like me?

So you can imagine my surprise when someone stood up and said,

"You forgot Ace." I was stunned. The teacher looked surprised, as did most of the class. She quickly got it together though, and called out my name for roll.

"Here" I said quietly. Heads turned towards me, as if seeing me for the first Time. I flushed under all the attention. I had no doubt in my mind they would either mock me or ignore me, and I was correct. Once the lesson started I went back to being invisible. No one noticed me anymore. It was disheartening… It had been strange when everyone looked my way,

but it had also been nice. I had felt… Accepted.

Too late now though. I went through the rest of the day as usual, ignored by everyone. As the final bell rang I walked out of class, heading towards the bus, when I tripped. I fell for a moment, and closed my eyes, bracing myself for when I hit the hard ground, but it never came. I gingerly opened my eyes to see the boy from earlier. He had fluffy black

hair and violet eyes. He was one of the most popular boys in my school. His name was Alex. I blushed slightly when I realized how close we were, and he helped me up.

"Thank you." I murmured quietly, not wanting to get attached to this boy. I had no doubt in my mind that he would forget me, like all the others, but he caught my wrist as I turned to leave.

"Why does everyone ignore you?" He asked. "It's like you're invisible…" I was shocked, no one had ever asked me that before. It was something I had thought long and hard about during many sleepless nights

"I don't know. They see me sometimes, then they forget. I'm not important, so they decide not to remember me. They stop seeing me." I explained, looking down bitterly. It wasn't fair, I hadn't asked for this. I was surprised when Alex grabbed my hand and grinned

at me.

"I see you. I won't forget." He told me. I flushed, not sure if I should believe this. This was strange, even for me, the angel with one wing. I was even more surprised when he grabbed my hand.

"C'mon, lets get on the bus." I closed my eyes, enjoying the warmth of his hand. No one had ever been so kind to me. For the first time in a long while, I was happy.

-X-X-X-X-X-

It's been fifteen years, since I met Alex. I watched as he walked into the living room, the ring on his finger glinting in the light. The ring identical to my own. I smiled as he messed up my already unruly hair and sat down next to me. I closed my eyes and leaned onto his shoulder, feeling

his arm wrap around my waist protectively.

He had never forgotten me, and now I would never be alone.

I had Alex now
