AN: A little one-shot about Hooks time in the treasure room and how he got the bean.
Disclaimer: I don't own Hook (or Collin O'donaghue... :,( ) Or anything to do with OUaT.
Ten hours.
He cursed her name a thousand times to the depths of the oceans in that span. And cursed himself twice as much.
He could read her like an open book, but he didn't see it coming? Stupid!
He knew he'd spooked her, knew he'd pushed her too far. A girl that closed off to trust did not just let a scoundrel and a stranger in on a clearly buried, personal secret and not back track the Hell out of Dodge like a sailor overboard swims for a rope in bloody water, as shadows beneath the waves circle in.
Stupid!
So cocky, so damn sure! He didn't see it coming and she bested him again. The Hero, the precious Princess 'Saviour' betrayed the Pirate who didn't see it coming. The irony made him laugh, but it wasn't a pleasant sound.
Ten bloody hours in chains he couldn't pick loose was a damnable amount of time to stew though. And to plan. She'd betrayed him and he would make her regret it. So far she'd only seen the charming facade he played; now she'd learn her mistake in calling out the Pirate. She'd already given away his first target.
'He's not a beast. And you're not gonna die.'
The precious, self-righteous, 'Saviour'. She honestly believed it was alright, that her betrayal was justified because he was the 'bad guy' and no one would die. He would break her. Bit by bit, starting with guilt. After all, she'd left him with his first, unsuspecting, target. It would be remiss of him not to take advantage of that. Even more so not to let her know about it.
How convenient for him that the start of his revenge just happened to provide him the perfect back-up plan.
'A pirate always keeps a souvenir of his conquest. But this... well, this is much more than a mere trinket. This is a symbol-something that was once magical, full of hope, possibility. Mm. Now look at it. Dried up, dead, useless. Much like you. The time for making deals is done. Just as I'm done... with you.'
Symbolism. Oh yes. But not quite as Emma, and Cora, thought.
The real symbolism of the bean came out in the 'gardening'. Amazing how a little attention can rejuvenate a shrivelled husk. He and Emma weren't quite so 'done' with their little game as everyone else thought.
But she'd still regret changing the playing field.
