There was so much more I was wanting to do in this world. All my problems will be over once the flames consume my entire being. My fate is to burn to death tied to a wooden stake. For being accused a witch.
I watch with a tear-stained face to all the townspeople I had once considered family, their once compassionate faces now one of anger and screams for repent. Even though being a white witch, it did not grant my pardon.
"Repent! Repent! Repent!" Their voices grew in power, each shout a fatal wound to my breaking heart.
The salty liquid now freely flew down my reddened cheeks, I had never felt so betrayed. The person I had a strong attraction for now looked grimly on the scene near the back of the crowd. I knew why, too. He was ashamed, ashamed to see an innocent creature burnt at the stake. After everything we had went through he still did nothing but observe silently in the shadows. 'Hansel…'
"Evil creature! Burn her! Send her back to the hell she came from!" I could now barely hear their aggressive shouts, my attention turning to the fire that had now slowly consumed the bundles of hay at my feet. The warmth was almost pleasant but at the same time suffocating. I would die here with a broken heart.
"I trusted you." The faintest whisper left my dry mouth.
I knew no one had heard but I couldn't help but hope that Hansel had heard. He deserved to know that I felt something for him, not sure if it was love or not. I wanted him to know that. My gaze started to wander, searching for his beautiful eyes. I found them lurking in the shadows, as to escape this unavoidable event.
The flames had soon found the hem of my now tattered, pale dress. I paid no mind to this as I locked eyes with Hansel. I could tell just from one look that he regretted this. During the battle with Muriel and her minions I had been fatally wounded. Even if I had formed bonds with the two, I was still a witch. As to cover their origins, they turned me in.
"I will never forgive you!" I yell out with rage. For a moment, the townspeople were shocked by my outburst and I could tell Hansel was as well.
I would accept my death with a little dignity, but I had hoped that it wouldn't end like this. Raising my chin, I get one last glance at the beautiful sky. This would be the last I saw of this world before I moved on.
I watched the sunrise until my vision became blurry, eventually sending me into eternal darkness. All was quiet. I felt nothing. I was dead.
