Chapter 1 – The Phone Call
I'm going to go grab a shower, Auggie said sleepily into Annie's hair. Before slipping out of bed.
Ok she mumbled back planning joining him shortly. But the shrill ring of her phone interrupted that plan.
She answered with a simple "Hello?" her voice thick with sleep.
"Annie?"
"Oh hey Danielle" Annie said sitting up in bed, more alert
"I haven't heard from you in a few days, was wondering what my little sis was getting up to?"
Annie hesitated should she tell Danielle about Auggie? She didn't notice that Danielle's question remained unanswered until Danielle voice echoed down the phone "Annie you still there?"
"Oh yeah, the usual. How are the girls?"
"Hey Annie, you coming?"Auggie shouted from the bathroom, water running.
Annie paused hoping Danielle hadn't heard, unfortunately that hope was dashed when she heard a questioning "Annnnnniee?"
"Hold on, be in a sec" Annie yelled back
"Yes Danielle?"
"Who is that? They sound a lot like Auggie"
"Yes it is Auggie"
"Spill"
"Um, well we are kinda together"
"I knew it! How long?"
"Three months"
Annie waited for the shriek she knew would come and sure enough it did.
"And you didn't think to tell me?" Danielle questioned.
"Well, we were just seeing how it went"
"I'm so happy, I think you have somewhere to be! So I'll let you get on." Danielle said
"Bye Danielle"
"Bye"
"Annie?"Auggie shouted again
Annie placed the phone down, "Coming Aug"
