A/N: So this is me getting back into fanfiction! :D Yay! I figured a prompt table would be easiest, starring my favorite couple.
These will be written sporadically, 30 in total.
Oh, and, this was written in like an hour... hence the shortness of it. If I didn't publish it now though, I would have sat on it for approximately 15 months. Yeah, it happens.
They may/may not get longer as time goes on, but I'm assuming they will usually be longer than this.
So, ummm, yeah. Enjoy!

"Lily, just go out with him already!"
"Give the guy a break!"
"It's been years."
"You can't say no forever."
The shouts would echo around them as James tried for whatever time it was that week to convince her dating him was a good idea. As if another week, another day, even just another minute would bring her the epiphany. She would finally see whatever it was that made him so desirable to the entire school.
"Don't hold your breath, Potter."
With that she stalked off, cheeks flushed as the calls of her classmates closed around her. They just didn't get it. They were so easily taken in by his money, his charm, his flying. No, they never saw it for what it really was. Confidence radiated off of him like heat off the pavement, altering the world around him until you saw things that weren't there. His arrogance came off as charm; his malice as harmless pranks; and his cunning as a sparkling intelligence rivaling that of her own.
But she saw. She knew who he really was.
"Lily, he's James Potter."
Stopping in her tracks, Lily could practically hear the foolish girl swoon, falling to the floor along with her naïve cry.
"Oh yeah?" she said quietly. "Well, why didn't you say so before?" Her sharp turn startled James, she could tell, who paused halfway in his turning to Sirius. Her quick strides back to him gave him no time to recover.
"Excuse me. I was unaware that I was speaking to such an esteemed figure. Perhaps if he tried acting like a decent human being, instead of the prick he plays so well, I may have been able to notice."
"Lily-"
"Don't you Lily me, James! I'm tired of it! I'm tired of you following me around like a lost puppy. I'm tired of being hated around here because I'm apparently out of my mind for not wanting to be with you.
"But think about it James. Why would I?! All you've done is bully those weaker than you and show off. What kind of person wants to be with that!?"
The hush of the crowd didn't stop her from continuing, nor the frantic stares going back and forth between her and James.
"I'm so tired James. Hogwarts has become a nightmare for me, all because you can't leave me alone! Why, pray tell, would I want to date someone who has made my entire existence here miserable?"
Mouth gaping, James seemed to try to form some response, while all that escaped his throat was strangled air.
"Don't," she breathed. "I don't want to hear whatever excuse you've come up with today. I'm done. There is nothing in this world that could ever make me want to be with you James. Got it? So stop trying. Move on. You're just becoming pathetic."
As the angry beast in her chest settled, finally sated after so many years of holding back, Lily turned, walking away for good.
It was only as she made to turn at the end of the hall, his quiet, broken voice reached her ears.
"I'm sorry, Lily."
His voice almost gave her pause. So small, so defeated—she had never heard it form around such a tone.
But no. She wouldn't fall for it. There was nothing he could do to change her mind. Nothing at all.
A/N: Le thoughts?
