Mary's Song
She
said, I was seven and you were nine
I looked at you like the stars
that shined
In the sky, the pretty lights
And our daddies used
to joke about the two of us
Growing up and falling in love and our
mamas smiled
And rolled their eyes and said oh my my my
I was seven and you were ten. We always hung out with each other, looking at all those wonderful stars. Our dads joked about us getting married when we were older and our mums just smiled and rolled there eyes.
Take
me back to the house in the backyard tree
Said you'd beat me up,
you were bigger than me
You never did, you never did
Take me
back when our world was one block wide
I dared you to kiss me and
ran when you tried
Just two kids, you and I...
Oh my my my my
We'd always hang out at the tree house in my backyard and you'd try to beat me up cause you were always older then me, but I was too fast and ran away when I dared you to kiss me.
Well,
I was sixteen when suddenly
I wasn't that little girl you used to
see
But your eyes still shined like pretty lights
And our
daddies used to joke about the two of us
They never believed we'd
really fall in love
And our mamas smiled and rolled their eyes
And
said oh my my my...
When I was sixteen, I wasn't a little girl that you used to see and hang out with. But your eyes were the same as those pretty lights. Our dads still joked about use getting married when we were older and our mums just smiled and rolled their eyes.
Take
me back to the creek beds we turned up
Two A.M. riding in your
truck and all I need is you next to me
Take me back to the time we
had our very first fight
The slamming of doors instead of kissing
goodnight
You stayed outside till the morning light
Oh my my my
my
You'd take me to the creek at two am in your truck and all I need was you by my side. We then later had our first fight when I saw you kissing some girl. I ran to my house slamming the door as hard as I could. You came by and sat outside until the morning, when I came out I said "I wasn't the one who kissed her she kissed me, I love you"
A
few years had gone and come around
We were sitting at our favorite
spot in town
And you looked at me, got down on one knee
A few years later, we were sitting at the beach when you looked at me with those wonderful eyes of yours and got down on one knee and asked "Lillian Ann Truscott will you marry me?" and of course I said "Yes!!"
Take
me back to the time when we walked down the aisle
Our whole town
came and our mamas cried
You said I do and I did too
Take me
home where we met so many years before
We'll rock our babies on
that very front porch
After all this time, you and I
We then got married the next year. I walked down the aisle in my beautiful white dress and our mums cried. We said our 'I do's' and we were officially married. We had our first child the next year on the 5th January, 2015 and we named him, Ryan Adam Jonas, two years later we had our first girl on 16th May, 2017 and called her Jennifer Rayne Jonas. But it was still you and I.
I'll
be eighty-seven; you'll be eighty-nine
I'll still look at you like
the stars that shine
In the sky, oh my my my...
I'll be eighty-six and you'll be eight-nine, but we'll still look at each other like all those times when we were young and silly. We loved each other and we new that.
