"Doctor, what are you doing?!" Clara half shouted over the racket the TARDIS was making. The Doctor leant around the console to face her, his eyebrows arched.
"It's not me!" he exclaimed as the TARDIS lurched and they both stumbled against the console. "The TARDIS is taking us somewhere; she obviously thinks that there's somewhere we need to be." The TARDIS lurched a final time before stabilising with a clang of the cloyster bells.
"Well, where are we?" asked Clara breathlessly. The Doctor swung one of the screens around to face him.
"I don't know," he said. "She's not showing me anything." He looked up at her. "Let's find out, shall we?" He strode to the TARDIS doors, but just as he was about to open them, somebody knocked on them. The Doctor swung around to face Clara.
"Who could that be?" he asked. Clara shrugged.
"I know as much as you do, Doctor. Open the doors." He turned back to the doors and opened them. In front of him stood somebody very familiar.
"Hello, Dad."
The Doctor stared at the girl stood in front of him.
"You've changed," she said. "I like it. Loving the eyebrows." She grinned.
"Sorry, did she say "dad"?" asked Clara disbelievingly from behind him. The Doctor ignored her.
"Jenny... But you- you're dead!" he said. She shook her head cheerfully.
"I came back to life. It must have been the regenerative powers of the Source, and maybe they were given a kick by my Time Lord DNA. At any rate, I've been running around the universe, saving civilisations and defeating creatures, just like you said you do. But really, I've been looking for you." She looked up at him. "What happened? Why did you have to change?" The Doctor surveyed her for a second before stepping back from the door.
"You should probably come in," he said. Jenny stepped into the TARDIS, looking around her with interest.
"I like the décor," she said. The Doctor raised his admittedly impressive eyebrows.
"No comment about how it's bigger on the inside?" he asked. She turned to face him.
"Come on, Dad, did you really think that I wouldn't have done my research?" she said."I know all about the transcendental dimensions of the TARDIS." She laughed at the shocked look on the Doctor's face. Clara stepped forward.
"Erm, Doctor...?" He turned to face her.
"Right. Sorry, Clara. This is Jenny, my... daughter." Clara's eyes widened.
"You have a daughter?" Clara asked. "Why didn't you mention it?" Jenny frowned.
"You never mentioned me?" she said. The Doctor looked between the two of them helplessly.
"I- well, I- " he stuttered. He gestured uselessly with his hands. Jenny grinned at Clara.
"This is more fun than I remember," she said. Clara smiled back.
"I do like to give him a bit of a challenge now and then," she said. The Doctor seemed to find his train of thought again.
"Jenny, how did you find me?" he said. She frowned.
"I didn't. I thought you came looking for me... The TARDIS appeared in front of me, so I knocked." She looked between the Doctor and Clara. "Didn't you come looking for me?" The Doctor shook his head.
"I thought you were dead! It was the TARDIS. She was the one who took me to Messaline, so you were created. She must have known where you'd be." He patted the console. "I can always count on her." Jenny smiled.
"So, now I'm here, is your offer still valid?" The Doctor looked up at her. "What offer?"
"To come with you; Saving planets, rescuing civilisations, defeating creatures, and doing an outrageous amount of running." He smiled at her.
"Gotta love the running."
